8" woofer as a rear fill?

Has anyone ever used an 8" sub for rear fill instead of using a 6x9? and then adding in another tweeter for highs?

I thought about doing something like this with 6-1/2" woofers before I bought my 6x9's. In hindsight, I wish I had done the 6-1/2's instead of the 6x9's. My 6x9's are severely overpowering my front components. The 6-1/2's would have been easy, but 8's would be kinda difficult I think.

How would you install the 8's? Would you enlarge the 6x9 hole to accommodate the 8's? If you do something like that, you will need to significantly reinforce your rear deck. The stock 6x9's made mine rattle terribly - and it was the metal deck that was making the noise.

I think it would have to be a custom job of doing some cutting and like you said reinforcing the rear deck to sustain the weight. And my back end rattles also, I don't know if I am going to do this or not. A set of 8's would probably make it shake the window out.
