Kicker 10C128 help...

I purchased a pair of Kicker 10C128 12" Sub-woofers. They are 8ohm. Should I have gone with a 4ohm? They said the 8ohm would be better to use. I can still take them back for the 4ohm. Havent opened the boxes yet. If I stay with the 8ohm what would be a good amp to power them by. Crutchfield recommend sthe kicker dx300.2 for a proper amp. Any help would be appreciated. FYI I cant return the speakers I got them at a big discount I can only exchange them. What is the differnce as far as buying 4ohm vs 8ohm? Thanks, I know you guys have plenty of answers!!!

The difference lies in the resistance that the amplifier sees once subs are wired together. The higher the impedance (ohms), the less power the amp will put out since it sees more resistance. It doesn't make one impedance better than the other, it's all about picking what's best for your individual sub/amp setup.

With that being said, the Kicker amp that a colleague of mine recommended would work perfectly with the 8-ohm version of the subs you have now.

If you choose to go with the 4-ohm version, you will then be able to get a mono sub amp to power the subs and the amp will see a 2-ohm resistance once wired correctly. The Rockford P300-1 would be a good match then.

I hope that might help without confusing you. If I can help further, just let me know.

You said you have a pair, which means that if you wire them in parallel, they net resistance will be 4Ω.
