Spare ECU for tuning?

I suspect there is a security relearn if the ECU is swapped for a spare one?

Anyone have experience with this on a '12 SS?

It has your VIN locked with the PCM in it I believe...you would have to go through a dealer to get a new one and I believe they would require you to send the old one back in

EDIT: From what I've heard.....for what it is worth

Yes global diagnostics tell a lot, I have replaced E38s here and you have to do a clutch learn, case learn, relearn the immobilzer, etc, not a direct swap over at all.

If you had you would have found the other 26 threads on this topic that say that having a spare ECM for tuning doesn't work on the Camaro.

Ya, ok so I'm a newb here. I'll admit I didn't search. The LNF Cobalt I sold was a Bosch ECU that you could swap back & forth after one HPTuners security seed relearn.

Thanks for the info guys.

Long time HPTuners, CobaltSS, GMSC forum rat, just a newb here.
