It's a fill port for the supercharger coolant. You rotate it to 12 o'clock, remove the cap and fill....I think.

Correct. It's the highest point in the coolant system for a reason, to get all the air out of the system.

...according to Steven Hawking, one can time travel beyond our solar system using worm holes by proper calibration of the knob....just sayin..... GM engineering is a marvel to behold. <pure saracsim, sorry> The ZL1 is quite a ride, is it not? . Seriously, there are many things to learn about it, forunately for us we own one and are fortunate enough to go through the learning curve to understand the car fully.

Whoa, just looked at the photo again and saw the "R" marked in orange marker on the driver's side of the supercharger. What the heck is that???

It could be that "R" stands for "Reworked", "Replaced" or "Revised", indicating that when your engine was built the original part had a problem and was replaced, reworked, etc. You might think that no mark is a better thing, but these markings are there for a good purpose not just because someone wanted to draw on your engine. It would be great if someone from the plant could actually tell you what it meant.

It indicates the right side of the supercharge as your looking at the engine from the front of the car.

Colour by 'character'. Red paint goes there.
That's not a ZL1 I take it since it doesn't have the LSA and SuperCharged letting on it - and it's not Red.

That is the scariest possible answer. Hope the folks putting it together are smart enough to know which way it goes...
And yes, it is a ZL1. That's what is under the red cover...

I realize the 2 hoses serve a purpose but when you pop the hood on a ZL1 and your eyes are drawn to the "UGLY HOSES" I wish they were hidden!
