Where to park?

Okay I have a somewhat nOOb question. At my work office, we have little shade. And being in CA, the sun is almost always out.
I have IBM (dark blue metallic) paint on my car.
Where is the best place to park to avoid paint problems?

1. In direct sunlight, but away from trees.

2. In some shade in morning hours but sunshine in afternoons.

3. In shade from trees but underneath them (these trees luckily do not have any sap or many birds in them.)

(A cover is not an option and I always park away as much as possible from door-dingers.)

Thanks in advance and sorry if this was asked already. Point me to a thread if so.

Option 4: Find a new job with covered parking....

jk, I would say option 3 if you are in an area where the trees wont fall on your car form wind. Make sure the trees are healthy as well so you dont have any dead branches dinging your car up. My second choice would be option 2. Both options are my opinion only, i have no real data to prove other wise.

I'd stay away from anywhere birds can perch. Sun is a lot less worrisome than is bird poop. That stuff can etch your paint in minutes.

As long as you keep a good sealant or wax on your car, the sun shouldn't be an issue. Shade would be better, but not all that important.
