Soooo.....I became impatient and started scoping the interwebs and stumbled upon a dealership in Cleveland (only an hour from me) that has the EXACT car I was going to order for 2013 (but obviously the one on the lot is a 2012). I want this car but I also want to know if I'm getting a decent deal or if there is room to negotiate. So here's the situation:
2012 Camaro 2SS Coupe
MSRP: $41,010 Dealership's "UpFront Price": $40,010 My GM rebate for $1,500 off which puts the final car price at $38,510. My salesman did the math apparently and came out with $40,956 out the door. What do you all think? Do you think I have more room to negotiate a lower price? Hit me up with some resources if you have them! Just seeking advice Thanks! ![]() ~M |

can you try to get a private offer, too? that would be another $1000 off...
through Edmunds, the options you named come to $40,540. must be something else added? polished wheels? floor mats? their TMV price for just the options you mentioned for zip code 44101 is $39,201...

There will be 2013 on the lot soon, so you should be able to get it for less.
If you build the exact same car on Nada.com and look at the invoice price it'll be cheaper than the 40k dealer price. Stick with invoice prices only, especially for the end of this model year cars. |

You should be able to do better. I purchased my camaro in December from a small Chevrolet dealer about 30 miles west of Canton for 4k under msrp Good luck in your search!

Thanks everyone! I want to get the $1,000 private offer but I found out I couldn't use that with my current private offer of $1,500. Sigh. I'm such a noob... I wish I knew how to negotiate correctly

If you aren't set on 2012, there are still some "new" 2011's... you could probably get them down even more with the 2013's set to ship. If this one was closer to me I would probably have already gone down to check it out.

^^ i was thinking the same thing lol. If you go in though and show interest they are usually willing to deal. Go in with a set price in your head and dont budge, eventually they will either give or sell it to somebody else.

Find me a black one like that with that price and I will send you a finders fee. Sounds a little to good to be true. Wow what a deal.

Do you have USAA? If so, thats an additional $750 off if they are able to give you that.
Also try going to their online website. Dealerships tend to have "Internet Pricing" on their vehicles and they will not tell you about it since you must bring it up to them when you physically step inside. Just a thought, hope this helps. |

Here is my local dealer and the "Internet Pricing" that I was talking about:
http://www.lindsaychevrolet.com/new/...292108d4ba.htm Thats not yellow but that has every option that you wanted plus polished wheels which is an option you didn't have listed. MSRP:$40,445 INTERNET PRICING:$38,128 YOUR GM REBATE:-$1500 USAA REBATE:-750 $35,878 is the price it COULD be, so I'd say there are better deals out there. |

Rule of thumb, never never never even go to the dealership before the last open three days of the month. Not even to look. Thats the time you get the salesmen who havent reached thier quota, and the dealership trying to push the numbers out as well. You will almost never get as good a deal any other time of the month unless you know people.
Also I force myself to sit through the complete negotiotion phase, upto the actuall signing to get the final price at a minimum of three dealerships. I know its a big investment, usualy 3-5 hours each, but I always have gotten a much better deal in the end, and this is a big purchase, the time is definatly well spent. I got the 45th 2012 2SS vert with everything it comes with Auto for 39.5k before junk fees a few months ago, think it was around 41,800 with taxes, travel from out of state pre extended warranty junk, but cant swear to that price, total was just north of 42k (rethinking the 2k on extended warranties/maint plans since GM screams we dont cover you car if you look at them sideways now) I would imagine a coupe even with sunroof especially now that 2013 are on the way,you should be starting a grand or two below invoice minimum before rebates and dealer incentives at this point whatever you get. MSRP shouldnt even be mentioned. Remember most of these dealers have been paying interest while the car has been sitting on the lot, so the longer the old year takes to sell beyond 3 months or whatever, the more it cost them, even at a loss in some cases its actually going to be a profit sell for them. And dont forget you can get that exact same vehicle from another dealer if tis The One, so shop around, maybe the other dealer will give you a heck of a deal so the $400 transfer fee or whatever is a non issue. Also KBB has a pretty good calculator for what cars with your equipment are selling for in your area, its a good baseline usually.......just dont do like I did and look at the same car in other states and find out that the car is selling for 2k less a couple states over or some such depressing thing.... :P Last edited by Rhyder; 06-24-2012 at 04:45 PM. |

I agree it is best to go in last day of month. Went in on last day of May to try and buy last 11Vert on lot. Got there 1 hour before closing and looked at car and made sure they knew I aws ready to buy. MSRP was a little over $41k for 1SS with several options. Made one offer of $32.5 and they took. Finished up paperwork that night and picked up a couple of days later. Also got 60 months no interest.
