Locking Gas Cap?

Hey guys, I'm trying to look for a GM locking gas cap, and no I am not talking about the locking door as I don't like the way that they look. I know that I have seen one on the forums by accidentally stumbling upon it but I just can't find the thread anymore, and YES I did do a search so non of that now. It's a gas cap that you could get from GM that is specifically outfitted to work with your car key that you already have. Any suggestions? I called the dealers and well they are no help at all.

Stant 10504 should have it in stock at your local parts store.

Locking fuel doors/gas caps are actually useless. Modern vehicles already have mechanisms in place that prevent gas theft from siphoning from the intake. These days gas theives will drill your tank to get the gas.

Touche.

Although I still can't see it being rampant enough to warrant a locking gas cap. I'm sure it happens as well as lightning strikes and I'm also not going to by a lightning rod for the car.

Exactly. I paid $30 for this locking gas cap. To me, a one time fee of $30 is worth knowing that nothing will ever be put into my tank unless I know what it is.

It's not the gas stealing that I am worried about, but more of the pouring of random crap in my tank is my main concern.

Or condoms.

A buddy was busted by his wife messing around. He got the chick he was cheating with pregnant.

His truck kept stalling. Mechanic tried everything. Finally pulled the gas tank and found the surprise his (ex)wife left for him.

Lots of condoms.........

It would be nice if the gas cover release was inside like my last car (ooooo ... that is actually in another thread) but unless I'd have that there is no way I'd add a lock.

I bought this one for less than $15. Works perfectly and looks just like the overpriced one a friend got from the dealership:

A small price for that security feeling.
