SS exhaust on 2010 V6 Camaro

I've been getting requests on here to put a video on how my exhaust sounds, and here it is. I have the SS exhaust and injen intake only. No tune.

Enjoy in HD!

Did you use LS3 mufflers? I can't listen to the vid until I get home since I have no speakers at work. Thanks for posting though!

I switched out the ENTIRE exhaust for the SS one, and I believe it was a LS3.

The exhaust was somewhere around 9 feet long

Was it straight unbolt/bolt on replacement or was it more complicated than that? Sounds really good.

Ben
Yup took out V6 exhaust. Put V8 exhaust in. It's heavy so it helps to have more than one person, but nothing extra needed, just fits right in.

And thanks for the compliment

Found one locally for a good price so I'm picking it up this weekend and hoping to install it Sunday. I'm doing it by myself so I'm expecting on a lot of cursing and talking to myself to go along with the sweating in this heat around here. I'll report back once it's in.

Nice! Yeah if you can get an extra pair of hands it helps substantially... just bribe any friend with a beer or two

Get some Wd40, as you will most likely need it. Some of the bolts on the exhaust are just extremely hard to break loose. Wd40 will help you save lots of cursing lol

Hopefully all goes well for you and report back in!

I'd love to, but I live in Gainesville, and I believe we have the largest campus police force in the nation.

Touch wood, but I have never gotten a ticket yet ever, and just common sense tells me not to try it in Gainesville lol.

I'd love to go to somewhere isolated and just let it rip though. Might have to find somewhere hidden lol

don't see that happening, as I'm happy with the sound. Any louder and you might be hitting drone territory.

Got my SS exhaust installed yesterday and I love it! It was the full piece leading up to the band clamps so it was a straight unbolt/bolt on. I did it myself with my only helper being my floor jack. The bolts on the clamps came off with no problem, but sweet fancy moses, those 4 rubber hangers by the rear bumper were brutal. It only took me 2 hours but I think a half hour of it was figuring out how to get those rubber hangars off. I finally took off the rear diffuser and had no problem after that but it would have definitely been easier with a helper. The car sounds great at startup and when idling and sounds probably twice as loud as stock when you hit the gas. There's not much highway drone at all so I'm happy with it. Thanks for the suggestion!

Ben

Glad I could help!

Huge upgrade to sound, and best bang for the buck exhaust wise because you can get the entire exhaust pretty cheap/free. Only con is no extra hp as far as I know

I was only worried about sound since I have a few other bolt ons for HP. The only other drawback is that I'm sore as hell after doing it myself. Even both sides of my head hurts from laying on the concrete when I was underneath the car.:(

Yeah, I know. I even have brush burns on my shoulders from sliding underneath it so much. I always get a better sense of satisfaction when I'm able to do something myself even with my limited skills. Plus when I'm doing it myself I don't have to worry about anyone judging me for talking to and cursing at myself the whole time.

Saw Hex Vents in the signature but didn't see them on the hood. I got mine delivered last week and will have them installed in the next day or so. Looking forward to having them. Painted the rain trays black crinkle so they wouldn't be so noticable on the underside of the hoodliner.
Oh, the exhaust sounds good!

Oh, the exhaust sounds good!
Hex Vents were installed two days ago

As I'm going through about what seems like 10 inches of rain a day in Florida due to Tropical Debby, I have no new pictures :(

They look awesome! And they complement my NS-1 Stripes extremely well!

Thanks for the compliments

P.S. I'm actually going without the splash trays. The weather right now is about as bad as it's ever going to be, especially since my car is just sitting. If I don't need it for the next few days, I'm pretty sure it can go without it forever

Plus, seeing the painted engine cover makes for a way cooler look than splash trays lol

Does the exhaust have to be from a manual v8 or will an auto work?

hmm I'm thinking they will both work, since the dimensions are the same, but the auto version will sound different.

I believe I've read on here that the auto exhaust has a noise dampening effect compared to the manual because of the 4 cylinder deactivation thing on the auto v8s.

Of course, I could be wrong too, so you might have to ask someone else too...

But either way, I do think the auto should work on a manual and vice versa
