Tune?

Is it worth getting a tune while stock? Or what's a good starting point for add-ons before a tune?

If tuneing a stock L99 what can I expect for performance?.

Thank you,

Thank you,
Worth it for the Trans tune alone. Will make the L99 like a whole new car.

I know I'm a v6 but I've read quite a bit on every topic around and having a tune myself on an automatic car, I can tell you the difference in the trans tune alone is huge.

I know a lot of v8 cars go with tunes from JRE. He has dynoed countless Camaros and can tune cars for bolt ons by results he has seen from dynos. So you buy a tuner from him and he sends you the tune to load. Also, if you buy your mods from him, then the retunes for those parts are free. Just a thought in case you wanted to get a tune recommended by a lot of v8 members.

A custom dyno tune would also be good but in my opinion it would be good to wait to do that since you don't really have a lot of bolt-ons yet and throwing money on retunes might be more costly than a tune like JRE.

Just my opinion, take it with a grain of salt.

I tell guys with bolt ons and under, Its ok to street tune the car, and save a buck. Ill get really the same power out of it.

The heads and cam cars, You should invest the couple more green backs to dyno tune it. With me it's only a $150 dollar differance between street tune and dyno tune.

Forced induction, dyno tune it.

I tell guys on the fence, if you honestly dont feel the car's performance improved after my tune, dont pay me and Ill take the tune out.

Then after I tune the car, you cant wipe the smile off their face.

We offer tuning for the L99 with the included trans tune for $230. You'll need a cable too, which we sell for $150. Overall price shipped is $380 and includes free updates for minor mods down the road. Headers, intakes, etc. are all free updates through us. If you go heads/cam/forced induction/nitrous, we charge $100 for the retune.

A tune to get rid of the AFM is well worth it. Car runs and drives so much smoother. I would suggest Ted @ JRE. He hooked me up and was prompt with service and any questions I had.
