XM reception

Hi,
I have a 2011 2SS and just recently activated the XM for the summer and noticed the reception is very spotty. Even driving under a few tree branches will cause it to blank out for a few seconds. I have a Silverado truck with XM and do not see this problem with it. Is it just the way the Camaro XM is or do I have a problem I need to get addressed?
Thanks

When I bought my Comaro it had a free 6 months subscription. The Xm reception was lousy. UI installed a Sirius radio and the reception is very good with it. I believe it the shark fin antenna the causing the problem.

Unfortunately, it is a known issue on the Camaro. Several threads on the topic...

I bought a adapter where I could use the shark fin antenna for my Sirius radio. Reception was worthless so I went back the Sirius suppied antenna.

Location must play a role in this. I have not seen any issues from here in houston. Have driven it a few times up to the dallas area without seeing dropouts on the way or downtown.

Yes it could be the location. The satellite signal is more over head in Texas. Here in Wa the signal is more at a angle.

Not quite overhead, but more so than up North.

Funny thing I actually work for SiriusXM (Finance) and I get no XM reception on my ZL1 in my garage. Apparently the shark fins were not made with great frequency.....GM drop the ball on the design SXM will have them make the change for the MY14.

Agree 100% - I lose reception when I turn onto my street. There are trees that line the corner, so this must be the cause. Kinda like DirecTV in a rain storm...

The fact that Sirius/XM can dictate anything to GM is despicable. They are the reason GM and many other manufacturers don't include HD Radio tuners.

I'm near you (in Cypress), have a twin to your 45th vert and have terrible reception. Guess the trees are the causing the dropouts, but my neighbor's 2012 SRX doesn't have any dropouts on the same street where I get several in a 1-2 mile stretch. He can even get reception about 50 feet into the Toyota Center parking garage, while I lose reception at work before I finish getting the nose of my car in the parking garage.
