Painted 5 spoke wheels

I was at the Camaro Nationals in Frederick on Saturday and saw there. I like them and I think that I will go in this direction. Order the Polished 5 spokes and Plastidip them. There would be many combinations that could be done. Leave them polished, coat them completely (like the picture) or coat the dull portions like I have seen done to simulate the Carbon Package Prototypeee

Honestly, if I was going to do that, I'd just get the stock black wheels. They're a better looking wheel design than the 5 spokes anyway.

Thanks for the compliments on the car, it's mine!

I likes the look of the 5 spoke wheels better than the factory black ones is why I chose to do it this way. I prefer the look of a 5 spoke than the more busy wheels gm has for the factory black. Sorry some don't agree with my decision, and it might not be the cheapest way. But it's what I wanted

Those wheels were powder coated, cost 75.00 each. Per owner he bought the car from dealer with the polished wheels, and wanted black ones so he powder coated them.

He is on the board sometimes might chime in.

I thought they looked interesting, and if I had the polished ones I might do the same.

I have a GCN, waiting to be shipped.

Those actually look better than the stock polished. I do not know why i just never seemed to latch on to the polished wheels. For a car like this they should have done a the cts-v wheels.

I only like pitch black wheels when the tires are shined up darker than the wheels.

When I first saw them, I thought they were the 10 spoke wheels. Then I looked closer and saw what they were. I don't know if it is the finish or what, but I like them better than the 10 spokes. Also, like I said, there are a lot of options on what finish you could end up with.

What do you think of chrome 10 spokes? Here is a pic from Carlisle from Friday.

Dirtymax, where did you get the bowtie? Did you do it yourself? Nice touch.

I did it myself, it's painted red with a carbon fiber decal I picked up off eBay.

To the OP, One could powder coat, or place a "midnite chrome" finish to the wheels. It's been done defore on the SS wheels aftermarket, it's a quite a look IMHO.

Is the midnight chrome transluscent? With the light gray finish on everything but the face, would the 2 different finishes show?

Tom Oates Chevrolet used to send out the polished SS wheels on his cars which were Henessey upgraded to have the black powder coating done on them and advertised the look as midnite chrome. Stunning in my opinion. A cross between a black and polished aluminum finish.

FWIW, The wheels on my zl1 are powercoated in gloss black. I am having the ZL1 in the wheels painted, silver ZL and red 1. Also I am having the bowtie outlined in red and a red pinstripe added to the wheel. Just ran out of time before the show.

It was good to meet some of the fellow members at the show, I enjoyed talking to everyone who stopped by. Hope everyone made a safe trip back home.

And a big thanks to Tim at T&T Performance in Frederick. He was kind enough to let me park my ride in his booth this weekend to stay in the shade and beat the heat. He also helped me get the car ready for the show last minute. We just got the wheels back from the powdercoater on thursday morning, helped with the tail light bezels and pulling off my two factory bowties so I could repaint them. He helped me wipe down my car everyday, and we even put it on his lift to clean underneath really well. Went out of his way to help me get everything done before the show, I Would highly reccomend him to anyone in the area. Ordering my pulleys, headers, and cam from him in the next week or so!!!!
