Question about insurance.
I guess this goes out to anyone that might have had the unfortunate experience of having to deal with insurance companies due to a stolen or wrecked Camaro.
I've had some work done so far and am getting more done in the near future. I guess what im asking is, for insurance purposes is it a good idea to keep all reciepts for any work done (this i do anyway but again for insurance purposes)? Between performance mods, rims/tires and stereo equipment i've got about 7 grand invested in my car. And i'd rather not see all of that money go to waste if god forbid something were to happen to my car. thanks for any help! |

Sometimes unless you have a rider your mods are not covered under regular auto insurance except maybe the radio. May want to check with your agent. Would def keep receipts and pics to back up just in case.

It's always good to keep receipts anyway, and Yes the radio is the only modification that is covered against "THEFT" and there has to be a police report. If you have a performance package added to the car (Hennessy, etc.) the receipt from the reputable dealer will be then added to the insurance coverage but only if your insurance company offers it. The best thing to do is like WildOne said...call your insurance company

I knew a guy that wanted his motorcycle fixed that they wanted to total out.
He provided them with $13,000 worth of receipts, proving to them the motorcycle had more value so they gave him his way, his bike got fixed and his title stayed clear. Motorcycles are much different than cars though. I am in no way advocating the repairing of totalled cars. |
