on that note can you install normal head units with the alpine dash kit? alpine's website specifically says 'designed for' and lists 3 models, nothing else. does that mean it was just tailored for those radios but fits others, or doesn't fit any others?

i want a single din headunit - no need for a DVD/nav unit, i use stock backup camera and have a separate GPS...would be nice though, but $1200 is steep for a damn dvd in dash...

AFAIK, the Alpine kit's design has a slight curve on the bottom end of it, which complements the lines on they're radio's.

Can't speak to fitment using other Dashkits though, you may be better off using the Scosche or Metra Kits, since they seem a bit more universal.

I have the Scosche kit with an AVH-P8400BH. Since the 2 kits are almost identical, should fit without any problem.

I was pretty sure you could fit whatever double din you want in that kit. I don't see any reason why you couldn't...

I sent you a link to a thread where someone used a Kenwood double-din with the kit to your inbox.

Here is a review that I did on the alpine dash kit, it shows you about the kit and what other stereos work.

There is one guy who used the two together, although that isn't the exact thread I was looking for. I'll figure out the other one.
