ZL1 suffered heat soak issues.

I heard. It seems a good HE and maybe a lower temp t stat are the best first mods.

It is strange that magazines have not complained of it, but then again they only seem to run a few laps. Also, kind of suprised the issue isn't taken care of with the stock setup, considering the lenths they went to cool other components of the car.

Its not strange if you know how these automotive and publishing companies operate and pay the bills.

Well I guess thats it, as real world as it gets without biased reviewers. I wonder how this is going to get spun around.

How did the ZL1 experience heat soak but GT500 didn't? This is very disappointing.

Can anyone confirm that the GT500 had operational brakes after one lap?

I would imagine that Erik from Torq can, as he was driving the ZL1. Driver of the GT500 reported no brake fade issues, but why would anyone believe him?

+1. Van said he didn't experience any.

If you look closely at the new HE+pump and inter-cooler (seen pics of it), you'd notice Ford learned from the 03+ SC cars about fixing the heat soak issues, or at least delaying them more than previous years.

Wow , This settled it for me, going to pick up a 13 Gt500, tune only Gt500 >modded(pullies etc) Zl1 with after market wheels/tires. People can say what they want about the Gt500 but realitys gonna be a bitch when green flag waves.

It's just so disappointing seeing vid after vid of the ZL1 getting spanked everywhere.

I think a few decent mods to keep it cool and maybe a ported blower will wake it up quite a bit.

Not to add fuel to the fire BUT you shouldn't have to mod your ZL1 to compete with a stock gt500 especially after all the hype GM put out about the car.... You can say what you will in the end the msrp is even lower on the stang. And avoids the gas guzzler tax....

I dont want to disclose mods on each car, but neither was "bone stock". They were both very close to it, but not stock completely.

Was that a 458 Italia or Viper? Watching in a iPhone 3 and can't make it out. In either case, that's the car I want to replace the Boss.
