Vacuuming beside front seats? How?

I can't for the life of me find any hose attachment that is narrow enough to fit in the gap between the front bucket seats and the door sills. Unfortunately, this is one of the areas were grass etc. seems to collect the worst. Suggestions for vacuuming this area? Thanks.

If you move the seat forward all the way and vacum the back half, and then move the seat backwards you can get the front half. It's the easest way I've found so far. I do have an old craftsman vacum that can be forced in there, but I hate to force in case it scratches.

You can literally take the drivers seat out in under a minute.

Not sure about the passenger seat.

I went to home depot and bought a detailing kit to attach to my shop vac. Here is the same one at amazon. The one at home depot came with the smaller diameter hose, not sure if this one does.

For the two rises at the front and back parts of the gap, just use a thin attachment and be gentle. For the center where it goes deep, the best thing to do is slide the hose underneath the seat and swipe the area with the vacuum from underneath.

If you can't suck it, blow it. I use the airforce blower I use to dry the car to blow the dust and debris out in that particular spot, then vacuum the rest of the car, then wipe down the rest of the interior.

Good idea.....

I may try that kit from amazon. I have vacuum with a small diameter hose, just no good attachment for that spot. I also plan to get the metrovac sidekick one of these days for drying.....but for now it's the waffle weave towel.

Yep... like Chrisrp suggested... a dryer vent cleaning tool. I don't use that specific one, but found a 'flat' hose that fits on any regular vacuum that slides easily between the seats. Think I got it at Bed Bath & Beyond in the 'as seen on tv' section.

I move the seat all the way forward then go in from the back floor board. You can get it all that way.

21 replies on vacuuming a 1x10 inch area. Yeah, I think we are all a little obsessed.
