Good for you that you don't use CDs, your 1 of few. Still shouldn't have taken it away, that's just stupid. CDs are not obsolete.
I politely disagree. I think the majority of people who have camaros DON'T use CDs. Of course, there is no way of actually ever knowing, because asking a poll on here is not a random sample.

But I think with digital media being as prominent as it is, most people do not use CDs in their Camaros/cars in general.

I have a few CDs. They're only earning about 2.5% interest right now.

I would think that the weather, gas prices and movies would work like mine does in our 2012 explorer. It is part of the Sirius radio service. after the trial period, you can just get the travellink plan for about 2 bucks a month.

Same here. All others have been bought via iTunes ... Can't remember last time I held or used a music cd ... Much less in my car.

Then why not get the MyLink with nav after someone figures out the retrofit? It will look the same anyway...

I dumped CD, and MP3 music on a 4GB thumb drive, plugged it into the USB port in the glovebox and can jam to 100's of songs...

i dont understand why everyone is bickering so much about it not having a cd player.
you can easily convert cds to your computer and then to a ipod or flashdrive.
it saves you room( you dont have to carry around cases of cds) Time( you dont have to switch cds all the time) and money ( its one less part in the system).

I never said no one uses them, I just think the majority of people don't. When you think about it they are insanely inconvenient compared to an iPod/phone or usb flash drive

CD vs Digital Media

CD Pros
- good quality music

CD Cons
- Only 10 to 15 songs per
- Can be scratched/destroyed
- Not very portable
- Need a CD player to listen to the music
- Takes up real estate

Digital Media Pros
- Good quality (as long as you don't bootleg )
- 1000s of songs can be put on a flashdrive/ipod/phone
- Very portable/easily accessible through a multitude of devices
- Can listen with headphones
- Can't be destroyed/scratched (no physical entity)
- Can't be lost i.e. If your computer gets a virus, you can still recover songs on another computer with your itunes account

Digital Media Cons
- Only one I can think of is no physical CD if you like to cherish stuff. So basically no way for it to be a collectible.

And that was just off my head, I'm sure I can think of more if I tried

Thank god they are ditching the CD's... Cassette Tape Decks hung around in car radios WAY past their time.

but allowed people with mp3 players to use 3.5mm jack to cassette adapters before the widespread availability of heads with aux input.

Which is why having the mylink would be cool, but who can't work their mp3 players 'almost' hands-free? I love the hidden aux jack that comes standard and that the rest closes completely over a cheap 3.5mm cord. That being said, I do watch Ofer's "I want a new radio" thread in the DIY section closely.

CDs have better music quality. The compression of mp3s etc changes the sound. Audiophiles regularly discuss this online. That doesn't bother me too much, but for those of us with a ton of CDs, it's a pain to have to burn then download when there's a perfectly good disc to use. For new music, I usu download to my iPhone, so the connectivity w/b nice. Another point - many kids' songs are on CD. My son has favs we listen to regularly.

That said, I'm a fan of the tech in the 2013s. Love the HUD, and MyLink & Nav were a large part of my decision to wait for a 2013. We're not a tech averse fam; we have iPads, a Nook tablet for my son, and my desktop PC is a touchscreen (love it!) I'd still like a cd player, but I'll find a solution other than converting over a hundred CDs to digital. I understand why GM made the choice.

For the record, my current car, which I still love, has both a tape player and a CD player, OEM, in it. Heard a guy on the radio the other day say he actually still has an 8 track recorder! Not many of those out there.

Here are some pictures from MyLink when you push the Now Playing icon on the home page of the display while streaming music via Bluetooth from an iPhone. As you can see, it does display the album art and info. The last pic is using the Pandora ap from the home screen. You can "thumb up" or "thumb down" the song right on the screen.

MyLink is an amazing system and after owning 3 Camaros with the old radio, I can safely now say that I prefer the MyLink system regardless of how it looks on the dash. It does everything better than the old system.

My only complaint is that it does not recognize the Microsoft Zune, which the old radio did.

Some folks will just never be happy.

WE ALL CRYIED FOR A STOCK NAV UNIT.

Now we have it and we still pick it apart. Personally, I love it AND you don't loose the cool a/c controls which make the dash really pop, especially at night.

CD's are one their way out... don't believe me, go to bestbuy and see how big the CD department is compared to a few years ago.

Digital media is the latest "greatest" thing just like CD's were. Remember all the folks that hated when the cassette tape was phased out? They are still around you know...

Anyways... I love this radio and hopefully you can stream vids through the phone.

I don't get why people can't figure out how to rip to mp3, just dump the mp3's onto a USB drive, and plug it in.

Don't even need an iPod.
