Let's make some sense out of SCT datalog......

Here is a data-log I did yesterday with SCT. (2 and a half hours and I got ONE log)

So obviously we figured out that it's in metric and not in simple terms.

Anyone have any tips to help us simpletons out on how to read these things?

Also, anyone else have problems logging with SCT? Mine keeps losing connection at various times. I've used different PCs, cables and only the handheld has been the constant variable. But I can't get it to stay connected for long at all.

I have to turn the car off, unplug every cable and restart the program.

Already got some ideas and tips like using the newer program and some help form others in my build thread but looking for any tips or sho9rtcuts or anyone else having problems with SCT. My confidence level with SCT is so low I dread touching it.

Is there any way to log it in terms of inches and pounds and MPH etc........ ?

Anyway, here is the only datalog I was successful in getting. Does this tell me anything important?

The idea was to record boost, AFR, Fuel pressure and since my car dies at idle a lot I wanted to get any missfires. Not even sure if I did it right.

I could be wrong here, but based on the data and the projection curve it's safe to say that manuals are faster

Makes perfectly no sense at all . There is a newer version of Live Link, Livelink Gen II, which I have. I have issues with it as well. If SCT ever gets the issues resolved with the "new", which is not so new now, software/firmware it will great logging tool. I'm not certain, but I believe you may be able to update to the new stuff by contacting SCT. Since you are having issues anyway, it might be worth a shot. Mine will log most of the time, but I still get failures. Livelink Gen II has the abillity to select the units, such as psi, fahrenheit, mph, etc, it just doesn't work yet :(.
Convert your fuel from kpa to psi. 400 kpa, 58psi, is where you should be at during idle, at least on stock fuel pump. Do you have gauges or sensors, such as boost or afr (wideband), that will output a voltage to log it as analog 1 or 2? Here's a screen shot of the Livelink Gen II. I do not have the gauges assigned in Livelink. It appears to be more user friendly than Livelink 6.5

I do have a ZR1 (LS9) MAP sensor. Not sure how exactly to read it or configure it.

Only shop here with a dyno and knowledge of tuning is a ricer shop. I'm about to break down and just go there.

So how do I set my SCT up to log Boost, AFR, IAT. ???

I have a new Tensioner I got from Ted and a new pulley. I need to get my boost with the old set-up and then get the new set-up numbers so I know what I have. I have a boost gauge but hard to get the numbers while driving.

I need to make sure I'm not too high with the new set-up.

You need a firewire or some shit like that to log your AFR. There is a thread all about it and in it Ted explains what it's all about. Your boost was correct and so should everything else. Just pick the PID's you want to log, select them, and start logging. I think you may be over complicating it for yourself.

I think you're right.

I guess the question should be did I have the right PIDs in the log to get the boost and Fuel Pressure? Which apperently I did. I was told that the boost is supposed to be minus the barometric pressure???

Do you use this same set-up to log? SCT and LiveWire I mean?

Yes sir. I have much different PID's though. I just left my car/handheld/laptop with Ted and his IP guy and they set iy up just how they wanted it. So I just hit start log, stop log, save log and send to Ted.

As for the SCT units of measure, I'm not sure on all of them but most need to be convertred into a language we can understand. My iat's are in C so I need to convert them to F. As for boost, on the SCT it's measured by KPA. So you convert that to psi and subtract 14.5 and you get your boost.

Ok. Just spent another hour and a half. Set it up from scratch, got it ready, went out to get the datalog and it went typically down hill from there.

Did not get a log.

The closest place I have to do it is 15 miles from here. So irritating.

When I typed the vehicle number in to get PIDs it came up with over a thousand. When I populate it from the car it comes up with under 200 and most of the time under 100.

WTF

try setting it up without hooking it to your car. the last screen shows the strategy #. Enter that offline to bring up all your pids. Then select the a couple and save config file. The other way is hit or miss

What did you do last night to get that quick log? Just go back into that particular "log set up" and alter the pid's. I wouldn't make another one from scratch. Last nights worked. Didn't it?

Mines about 133 at idle. You must have Livelink II. Mine reads the same. If you look at the description on the PID list screen fuel pressure: KPA=X*3. 133*3=399. roughly 58psi.

Well, I haven't got my pillar pods yet. I put it temporary just so I can look at to get an idea. Hard to read so tried to datalog it.

I did that but it wouldn't read them when I tried to log.

I tried to go back to that. I saved the configure but again it froze up and disconnected.

Is there a new version of livelink? Your desktop says 6.5 and some people mentioned a newer version? I tried looking and couldn't find it....
