How many miles on your maggie?

I just thought I'd come on Camaro5 to see. I have 23k on the maggie on my G8 GXP and recently got a rattling sound from the maggie. Its not a bearing because I took the belt off and spun it, no binding, and ran the motor to rule that out. I called Magnuson and they said it could be "lobe slap". Rick at Livernois has not heard of anyone with it. A local tuner with an 06 Silverado has a maggie on it and he had the smae sound and it has gone 60k with out issues. Anyone have heard this from our style maggie?

Never heard of rotor knock on a TVS blower. Yes, it's common on the previous generation Maggies when you add a cam with a rough idle. I have two TVS2300's. The one on my LS3 vette has a blower cam with around 30K on the blower. It's quiet. The one on my daily driver work truck is on top of a 6.0L lq4(iron block LS2) and has over 60K miles on it. It also has a mild blower cam. It's quiet too. Not saying it absolutely can't be rotor knock on your TVS, but I'd sure look elsewhere for the noise source. These things run lots and lots of miles before you even have to think about as much as an oil change for the blower.

Thanks for the response old motorhead. I'm going to get a stock belt and see if it may be the tensioner pulley, then go from there.

Well after putting a stock belt on and rulling out the tensioner, I decided to keep going and see if it gets worse and go from there. I guess nobody here has had this sound. I plan on making a video tomorrow of the sound so others can hear what I'm taking about. I'll post it.

Yes its at idle, hard to tell if it goes away because the engine and exhaust noise takes over. Here is the video from startup.

I think the most I've seen thus far is 120,000mi on a Callaway Grand Sport Vette.

I would think that also, but the noise was not there until one day I noticed a faint noise and it got louder. I pulled the maggie friday and sent it to Magnuson and they are going to check it out, its still under warranty.

latest update. I'll have the maggie back on monday. This what magnuson said was the problem: "It was the bearing in the nose cover (rear of the SC) it went out and the metal flake got into the SC and into the rotor bearings." Seems like an isolated case(My luck). I'll report back again after its installed
