Going for the 12's...

I ran my L99 @ Memphis when it was stock and the best I could do was
13.41 @ 107 mph. I installed a set of 1 7/8 long tube headers w/hi=flo cats,A doug thorley cat back with an x pipe,a v-max ptb,cold air intake by
CAI and had it dynoed at DynoSpeed at Memphis 368rwhp and 385 ft pds
of torque.Since I've had it modded I have only ran it twice on a 1/8 mile track that just reopened after being closed for a year or so.The track is ok to launch on but my car spins in second gear pretty bad. My 60ft times are 1.92 - 1.95 and the best times at the 1/8 mile is 8.20 @87 mph on p=zeros @ 25 psi.Because the car would spin when it hit 2nd gear i bought a set of M&H drag radials on 18" vette wheels.I havent used them yet.
Thursday i'm going back to Memphis to try to break into the 12's for the first time. Should I use the drag radials on such a great hooking track or try it on my street tires? I want so much to run in the 12's but I dont want to break anything if I can help it.

With those mods you should be in the 12's on the stock tires. I went 12.4 with those exact rwhp/rwtq numbers. 1.89 60'. Why not put the dr's on and get all you can out of it. The autos are very gentle on the drivetrain.

Good luck!!

I had an auto with a supercharger and bolt-ons and was at the drag strip at every test and tune beating the hell out of it on street tires and ran an 11.7@119 you should be fine on street tires
Good Luck!

I was running 12.4s with 8.18s in the 1/8 with my L99 with nearly the same mods. My 60 foot times were the same as your's as well. I did have a Vararam instead of a CAI and on stock Pirrellis. If you don't break into the 12s, somethings wrong and you should be mid 12s at that. I've heard that 18 inch drag radials gave at least another 2/10s of a second and others have said as much as 4/10s...I don't know if that's true with an L99 without a stall converter. Let me know when you're going and I may go as well.

Thanks guys for the encouragement...If I miss the 12's this time i'll be sick.I was going to wait till cooler weather in the fall to try but it looks like we're going to have a break from this heat wave.I'll bolt the dr's on and give it my best try.

ParisTnDude...I'll be going Thursday night if it isn't raining.Gonna take advantage of that late night cool air they are predicting.Hope to see you there.

you should be in the 12s easily. Just focus on your launch, you can feel it when you nail the launch before you even see the time slip.

Well, finally got a chance to run the car at Memphis last night and while the air wasnt that good the track was dry.My first pass I had a 1.99 sixty foot time on factory tires.Iwanted to run my dr's but there was so much rain in the area that I decided not to.we ran through several showers on the way to the track.Now...The biggie for me..I hit 12.80 @109.55 on my first pass.

Oh yeah...I'm in the 12 second club...lol...my next two passes were 12.83 @ 109.30 then 12.82 @ 109.55 with a 1.991 and a 1.994 sixty foot times.

Did you run it in S mode? TC on or off? How exactly did you launch it? I was at the track last night and could not get less than 2 sec 0-60ft times. It was my first time though, so I probably just need some practice. I was running on the stock P-zeros.

Yep...ran it in S mode...all nannies off...25psi in the p-zeros....drove around the water box then backed up to the edge just enough to get the tires damp did about a three second
burnout and spun out of it....left at about 1000 to 1500 rpms.

Thanks for the tips I think if I go again I'll wait for some more favorable weather/temps and hopefully work on my launches a bit
