Two different ZL1 steering wheels?

In looking at ZL1 interior pictures, I have noticed that there seems to be *two* different ZL1 steering wheels present (see attached pic).

Is "A" a pre-production prototype, and "B" the production steering wheel, or is one part of different package, or...?

Cheers,
Kent

Those of you that got the suede steering wheel/shifter, how do you like it? Does it get dirty or can you see the wear from where you primarily hold the wheel? Just curious, I have leather and after seeing and feeling the dash and seats, I am glad I did not get the suede upgrade.

No issues yet. I do worry about it though. I am constantly shifting my hands around on the wheel trying to keep from sweating or matting one spot.....I love the feel of it, but i kinda wish i would have went with leatherTIme will tell

so far no issues on the suede wheel or shifter now that the fuzzies have stopped. i am noticing though that the suede over my radio is starting to come un-glued already

I'm on my second replacement dash pad. There were two wrinkles in the first one and this one is much better but not perfect. Unless it starts coming loose I'm ok with it. If leather wears smooth and becomes shiny after time, the suede surely be worse.

Ours is a B, but last Friday, the paddle shifters quit working, so we are now awaiting a new steering wheel and was told it will take between 1 and 4 weeks to get a new one!

Except for pre-production cars, I have never seen version A. I have 2012 VIN #150, and I have B. I went with the standard wheel and shift knob and have no regrets. The leather is very nice and easy to clean. I wish the suede on the dash was part of the same steering wheel/shifter option so I could have avoided the dash suede.

The A version appears to be on the 2013 cars, see the recent thread of delivered 2013's.

From that thread, pics below. It's definitely B, not A. A was pre-production.

The A picture still looks more like what is on the 2013 ZL1 with a slight difference at bottom of the steering wheel. I'm still with the A, GM is known to make slight changes in all of their cars each year.

It nothing of significance that bothers me one way or the other. Something will change on the ZL1 for 2014 too.

Do not mean to resurrect the thread...

But in Forza Motorsport 5 (released Nov 2013).....the ZL1 in the game has the preproduction wheel

I have the "B" wheel.

What's odd is that the ride ('14) came with the suede option, but the wheel and shifter knob are in leather.....

All Zl1's come with the suede seats and dash panel.

The "suede option" (actually microfiber) is for the steering wheel and gear shift knob only.

Since the thread is resurrected anyway...

After 8500 miles, the place on the steering wheel where I rest my hand the most is noticeably smoother than the suede of the rest of the wheel. I guess I should have worn gloves. Naa!

I took delivery of my 2013 in 10/12, and it came with B.

The suede option is actually Alcantara not microfiber. and to TheSilverBullet, to clean it and get rid of those smooth spots see these maintenance instructions and also see this post from Adams Polishes for their cleaning instructions.
