Shift light and boost gauge in rearview mirror

As the saying goes, "long time listener, first time caller" Well I have read and learned so much from all of your posts and now I finally have something to post. I own a Nickey Super Camaro and I wanted a stealth shift light and boost gauge so to keep a clean stock look. I contacted http://www.radar-mirror.com/ and asked them to install the vacuum/boost gauge and a bright LED in the mirror to use as a shift light. The results can be seen on this very short video. I used a small 3,000 RPM pill to keep the revs down to show how it works. In my opinion, it is amazing and now that it has been done, I would think many people will want to do the same and would not doubt if manufacturers start doing it as well. You can't miss it, as the driver's side of the mirror is pretty much eye level and about as close to your face as you can get.

Thanks again to all of you and your great posts and to Nickey Chicago for building an awesome car. The only suggestion that I got off the forums that turned bad was the installation of the WOT Box. I am sure it will work fine, but not until they learn and can provide good wiring instructions. Still waiting on that refund, but its only been 6 months.

DUDE, thanks for sharing. Been looking for a gauge solution, and I dont like anything else that out on the market.

How much did it set you back?

Radar-mirror supplied all of the wiring. The LED was connected to a MSD RPM switch. The boost/vacuum display connects to a AEM gauge that was mounted in the fuse panel on the driver's side of the dash. So, easy access, yet very hidden.

I am just returning from the Car Craft Summer Nationals and will post some photos once I return home.

I think radar-mirror charged $600 to install the boost display and the LED used for the shift light, which included the AEM gauge and instructions. I just removed the mirror, shipped it to them and they returned it a week later with the displays already mounted and new and much longer wire to allow for routing and connections. The LED shift light idea was something they had never seen before so perhaps I paid for some develop costs and now they can do it for much less. I would just forward the link to the post and video and have them quote it.

Also when not on or when not displayed you can't even tell those displays are there. The mirror looks and works normal. Amazing process.

So are the numbers on the right side of the mirror your RPMS? Like "22" is 2,200 RPMs?

The OP says it's a boost gauge.

The right side numbers are displaying vacuum and boost. As I step on the throttle you'll see the vacuum number go down. It will hit zero and then start showing boost. But as you can see, the numbers move fast, so not quite as usable as I'd like. However, there is a 3rd display in my mirror that I have not figured out how to hook up yet that only displays boost. Below is a link to what the mirror should look like once I figure out how to connect.

Looks awesome. I really like the shift light idea. I might have to look into something like this down the road.
