DOC52's 2015 1SS/RS Build Thread

Background:
After my fourth, yes fourth, ignition recall on my 2006 GTO, I decided it was time for me to let go of my first love before I injured myself or more importantly someone else. I always had an appreciation for the 5th Gen Camaro and the timing to purchase one couldn't have been better with local dealers slashing prices due to the anticipated arrival of the 6th Gen Camaro. On July 23, 2015, I was able to solidify a great deal on a 2015 1SS/RS from Lorenzo Bommin Chevrolet located in Miami.

Goal:
-To build a reliable daily driver that will see local drag strips frequently.

1/4 mile
Best ET: 11.78 @ 115.37 mph
Best Trap Speed: 116.03 mph
Best 60': 1.65
1/4 mile time slips

Day 1

7/23/15
This is the picture I took of my car on the showroom floor. It had only been at the dealership for 2 days and had 1 mile on the dash. I made them take the bow off immediately!

The following day I had my windows tinted to combat the harsh Florida sun.

I was fortunate enough to receive a sponsorship opportunity as a research and development car for JBA exhaust. I received their carb legal Cat4Ward headers along with a full 3" cat-back exhaust system. I'd like to thank JBA for everything, I love the 3" system, it's loud!

I installed the Z/28 cold-air intake. I decided on going with the GM Performance part due to its factory finish and upgraded Mass Airflow Sensor. Also I just liked the appearance of it. Not pictured: added a Vitesse Throttle Controller for better throttle response. Currently tuning my car through a SCT X4 with a custom tune from DynoSteve from RDP Motorsports. Thanks DynoSteve for the great tune!

I purchased a set of staggered 20" OEM Black 10-spoke rims wrapped in Hankook Ventus R-3 tires.

I installed a Z/28 gloss black rear spoiler along with a ZL1 Add-Ons Wickerbill. The spoiler was a direct bolt-in and the wicker bill was quite easy as well. I also installed the rock guards from ZL1 Add-Ons. Then I wrapped bowtie's and SS emblems in black carbon fiber vinyl from GrafxWerks. The license plate frame is from Maverick Man Carbon Fiber.

After researching C5 and talking to several tuners in my area I decided on a GPI SS2 VVT Cam Package. I plan on installing the cam first, followed by a Circle D triple disc 3800 converter within the few following months. I will probably install 3.91 GM gears with the stall.

Package includes:
-SS2 VVT Cam
-ARP Bolt
-AFM/DOD delete
-Additional lifters
-Pushrods
-BTR ti .660 spring kit
-Phase limiter
-Gaskets and Bolts
-Comp Cam Trunnion Upgrade Kit (ordered separate)

Will be installed on 4/11/16 most likely by JRG Motorsports and tuned by Matt of GP Tuning.

Thanks to Ryan at GPI for answering all my questions.

Received my Texas Speed and Performance 2" long-tube Headers with off-road connection pipes. Great customer service and super fast shipping from Texas Speed. The price was amazing and the quality even better! Looking forward to putting these on with my friend this month.

Big Thanks to Jason, Nathan, Seth and all those involved at Texas Speed!

Some random photos from car events I've been to since joining Nor Cal Camaros.
Everyone I've met so far are great people with beautiful Camaros.
Some of the photo are from Ramir, Vader2011v6, Thanks man!

Sticky Mickey's

3/19/16

Unfortunately l spotted a nail in my right rear tire today. The good news is that I ordered a set of 305 Mickey Thompson ET Street Radial II's. They should arrive here by the end of the week! They'll most likely be going on with my headers and hid fog lights on Saturday!

I was able to finally install my 2" Texas Speed & Performance longtube headers with cattless connection pipes. Install took my friend and I about 2 hours. The camaro is much louder and sounds great. There were no fitting issues. Just want to thanks Dyno Steve from RDP Motorsports for a custom tune which cleared the cels.

I was also able to install 6K HID fog lights. The Mickey Thompson Street Radials arrive tomorrow!
