Howdy!
So who makes a high performance all-season tire in both 275/40/20 & 315/35/20 with good tread life?

I want a matching set of tires, it must be all-season, must have good tread life, and must not cost $400 a tire!

I know that Nitto has the Motivo that lives up to that, but who else?

They are on par with the Nittos on price and looks like they have an AA traction rating while the Motivos only have an A ratings.
I guess I have never considered Continental a good tire, does anyone have an experiance with them?

Anyone else have other suggestions?

all season tires are a bit of a compromise with performance summer only tires,
performance tires are made of a softer compound for grip and traction, they will wear quicker, especially if you use them at a track.
All seasons are a harder compound generally speaking, you will sacrifice some grip and traction but gain year round use and a longer tire life.

a bit more costly I know but consider having some wheels / tires just for use in winter. with the salt and snow melt they use in your area during winter you will save the appearance on your polished/painted wheels.

I'm also looking at buying some inexpensive all season tires. Tire Kingdom down here in Miami has the Motiva 245/45's for $236 and the 275/40's for $249. Balance/mounted for $20 and Alignment is $80. Might just go with them...

Ocikat, thanks for the post bud. I am aware that a all-season is a compromise tire, but I am OK with that. I will not take my car to the track so no need for super stickies. I have no interest in changing tires twice a year and ultra high performance tires in the 275 and 315 size range are in the $400-600 price range. Not even close to being worth the price on a DD. the high and ultra high performance all-seasons are down in the more "reasonable" $200-250 price range.

They look like a good all around tire with a 60K mile tread life and decent price.

i have motivo's, slightly less grip then stock but for the price and tread life it is a good trade off

Veredestien tires have been getting some very good reviews also, they are imported from europe and are pretty reasonably priced, might be worth checking on. this is their summer performace tire but they do have all season tires too.

I've got the Continental DWS tires in 275 and 315 X 20. Have a little over 20,000 miles on them and can still see the DWS in the treads. In theory, the S should wear away first, then the W, then the D. Less dry grip than the Zeroes, but better wet performance. Quiet, and wear evenly and well. I run these tires up through the first major snowfall, and then switch to my stock wheels with Pirelli Scorpion Snow & Ice. The DWS were surprisingly good in 2 inches of snow, and that's saying something with the 315 width.

Just make sure you get a speed rated tire unless you only drive the speed limit!

Of course. All high performance all season tires are at least W rated if not Y rated. Really who needs that anyway, how often are you driving over 168MPH?

The Motivos are Y rated with A+ grip and 60,000 tread life. Good tire!

The General G-MAX AS-03 ultra hi performance all season tires are inexpensive have a good ride, have a 480 tread life, a single "A" traction rating (opposed to the great traction of double "AA" summer tire). My only complaint with them is the thin sidewalls. They even get good traction in lite snow! I use them in the winter since my beater car died.
