Junkie made 800 rwhp and 1100 RWT on the stock bottom end with NOS. It still lives and the new owner puts 2 bottles through it a week. These motors will live at this power level if you keep the fuel to them and the detonation away.
Great info on the survivability envelope of a stock bottom end, thank you for sharing.

They were thinking 580hp on a conservative tune is my guess..
They seem to be holding up fine though.
The pistons have thicker crowns and have oil squirters too, so that helps.
Lol, remember the 03-04 Cobras with the 10 spline input shafts on they're t56s.
I don't know why they would do tha when LS1 cars had 26 and vipers had 30.

Post #1: Put on a bigger blower yet the bottom end is not good enough??
On a 100 degree day, IAT2's of 122 after a pull seem high to you? That's like an NA IAT number.

easier to get over the 700 hp with a bigger blower.. (find someone that's taken their OEM blower of a ZR1 and use that) if you want more power, instead of having to do everything the OP did..

as far as talking about the bottom end, if I was to be aiming for the type of power that the OP is, I would want something stouter and more forgiving of a bad tune than what's in the car from the factory, but that's just me..

So the average labor is around $2000-$2500 and the tune is another $500-1000 depending on options right?

Soo the overall price installed and tuned might be around $13,000-$14,000 ?

So you are saying Whipple stage 3 should have come before stage 2 on a motor you think should be stouter? Thanks for your advice on the ZL1, mr silver2003cobra on SVTPerformance, From Folsom, CA... Where I lived for years....
Yes, we will go bigger, after we get a 9 second slip with this blower.

You see the 2.9 Whipple on my CTS-V, right? The kit is also capable of going on the ZL1.
When is your next scheduled trip to Sac Raceway by chance?

A Ford is though, being that he is silver2003cobra on SVTPerformance.

Meh, I am more curious what the LSA will do with a bigger blower instwead of the H/C set up, but the ford camp is just used to that since the blower upgrades are cheaper for them.
I can see why you went that route though.

The car has just hit the street so all these tuners are doing the obvious and exploiting the performance of the factory parts because that's what most people are going to run. The average Joe wants to know what "bolt-on's" he can throw on the car without swapping major components like the blower, heads, cam, etc. KDI is just moving one step at a time to show what the factory LSA and components on a ZL1 are capable of before moving on to the bigger badder better fish. They've already proven they know how to tweak an LSA with a big fat blower so we all know that's coming soon.

A stock LSA car of ours yesterday went 746/765 with a 2.9L Whipple on 91 octane. It also has a cam and headers. I expect more boost and meth o nthat car soon, pulling it over 800 like a couple ofthers we have done. Like I said, one of the CTS-V's have 64,000 miles on it with this setup.
Pretty good info for you.

With a direct port system as well. Should be about 2-3 weeks.

What all is included in the whipple kit on your site? Does it include intake, TB and fuel, or is it just the kit? What would that make on an otherwise stock car?

Everything except the injectors and tuning. You can use the stock tb or upgrade.

Way too much money for a bigger blower. So far the way to make bang for the buck is just as KD has done.
If you want a bigger blower, an LS9 crate engine would be the way to go for the money.

So can you share your pulley combo with us yet or are you waiting to see the number tomorrow first? Gonna do a pump gas as well as race gas pull too right?

I might want to do a pulley exchange with ya depending on what results you share tomorrow!

We are not only waiting for you to tell us about the "new tweaks" and accompanying dyno sheet but also the results of spraying it that you promised us....

I have no plans to spray the car. I may add meth though.

Off to the Dyno now.
