Nose mask: Good idea for the 600 mile ride to C5FIII?

I' m considering purchasing a front nose mask (i.e. stretch bra) for my car to help protect against road debris and bugs during the ride to C5FIII.

Maybe something like the one Ohio Speed has to offer:
http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showth...ht=stretch+bra.

I've heard the front covers will scratch your car. I just want some protection for the long ride and don't have time or finances for a clear bra.

Was wondering if the stretch nose mask would be good investment (i.e. give some protection against road debris and bugs).

Let me know if you've used one or have an opinion.

I was thinking about getting one as well. A couple members of our club have them and swear by them.

Do you know what brand they have and if they've ever gone on a long road trip with it on?

Same one you linked, and I think the longest they drove was about 2 hours.

The only reason I don't like the fabric masks is because when stuff gets stuck under them, it will cause abrasions on the paint underneath....

...but that's over a very long period of time...

I'll be driving mine up with a bottle of waterless wash in the trunk.

You could always use blue masking tape if you're in a bind.

Is green tape better for the vehicle paint?

Paint Protection

I think there's a thread about this subject somewhere. The main thing with the nose masks is never to use them when it rains and always take them off when you get where you're going. They should always fit well and not flap. We had one for our Roush. They are kind of a pain, but worth it to prevent damage.

Guess things didn't work out with Derek? it is expensive, but it's been worth it to me for the amazing results. Only one chip on the front......

Thanks Diane. I did talk to Derek. I am going to get the clear bra as a long-term solution, just couldn't get it done before leaving Wednesday.

Derek says he's got a 'stealth' version that won't make my matte black hood shiny. So, should be interesting.

Thanks again.

Good idea. Going to pack some in the trunk too. Thanks.

I have this one from RPI designs. Looks very similar but attaches to grill. Used it to travel from Illinois to Canada last year for the BBOMG and camaro factory tour.

It worked great. Definitely keeps the bugs off. Takes less that 5 minutes to take on and off. Took it off every night and cleaned it in the bathtub at the hotel. Dries very quickly.

StretchBra

I have one for long trips. Not so worried about the bugs as I was with rock chips, etc. For Oshawa last year I first put Road Wrap and/or blue painters
tape on the corners where it would have the most abrasion. Took twenty or thirty minutes to put on, but you save the time when you get there. Takes about a minute or two to take off. No bugs, no chips. Just take some waterless wash and some quick wax to touch up the finish.

Painters tape, the blue one. I use it all the time on long trips. Cheap and super-easy to put on, peels right off without damaging paint. Saves the front fascia, gill area in front of rear wheels, from debris, bugs, etc. every single time.
