RX/CHILLER = AWESOME!!

special thanks to tracey and greg at rev extreme for an awesome day at the shop and an awesome install of my new RX/CHILLER. there are no finished pics because this unit is so well hidden you wouldnt know what you were looking at. you cant even tell its there visually. there will be a thread up that documents the install with pics though on my way home lastnite it was 85 outside and my intercooler was running at 65 degrees. that was using the a/c inside the car too. the functions are awesome as i can have it off with the a/c off, on chilling the cabin and supercharger or i can just chill the supercharger alone for the track. sad to say before i got home i accidentally crushed the gauge in my door jam as i hadnt permanently mounted it yet. i will have a new gauge on it in a day or 2 and at that time time i will post all my temps in all 3 modes. once again a giant thankyou for an awesome product with an awesome install!

Does it need a tune?

I'm thinking not but want to make sure - if not, it's on my list too..

No tune required but it would really be advantageous to get the full benefit of the cooled intake air.

Let me sound silly by asking what is a RX/Chiller? Sounds nice and functional but have no idea what it is...

I believe it uses the ac system to chill the air in the intercooler to give you cooler intake temps

I thought it uses the AC system to chill the water in the intercooler, not the air.

Correct...but I think that's what he was meaning to say. The end result is you're cooling the air by super cooling the water flowing through the intercooler.

This is probably the cheapest way to keep heat soak at bay for the zl1.

I don't have my ZL1 yet but this looks interesting. What HP level are you at? Are you using the stock intercooler or have you upgraded that as well?

Here is a video of the system in use:

No need for a larger intercooler as that will just be fighting ambient air temps. No matter how large and efficient, you can only cool to within 5-10*F of the ambient air temp.

This will keep them in the 70's during 90-100* days, and down to near freezing when cooler temps are in the air.

Weighs onlt app 12# total, and nothing to buy as far as consumables.

temps

here are the coolant temps for the intercooler while on the road 75-80 mph. first pic shows temp with chiller on with cabin air on (daily driver mode), second pic is just the intercooler getting cool with no cabin a/c (competetive mode) and pic 3 is with chiller off completely (stock temps i saw go as high as 102 degrees at 93 degree outdoor temp today). temperature outside according to the cars thermometer on the radio was 93 degrees in all pics above. thanks again tracey and greg for helping me have the coolest ZL-1 around

here are a few more pics at around 40 mph around town with 96 degree outdoor temperature. first pic chiller off, second pic chiller and cabin air on and third pic is chiller only no cabin air. when i say no cabin air i mean just no a/c, your vents will still blow cool air but it wont be getting chilled as your intercooler will be getting all the cooling ability. at a red light today i saw 125 degrees intercooler temps with just the factory setup running.

Very nice.

Question, not very tune savy. When getting a tune with this set up does the tuner tune the engine with the chiller on and if so what does that do to the tune when you are not running the chiller. Sorry if this sounds dumb I just dont know and would like to find out. Thinking of getting one of these bad boys?
