Mace cams ordered.

Ordeed the cams this morning. I'll be using this thread to post updates along the way to record all the details. This is going to be fun.

***** update
Details about Chakita.

Build data: 9/2010
Mileage: 17296
Manual transmission
Current mods:
Rx ported throttle body
Injen long tube intake
Rx 3/8" Black iceolator
Rx dual port catch can
ARH 1 3/4" headers
ARK DTS exhaust - 2.75"
Royal purple 5w30 in engine
Trifecta tune from BNR Racing
Royal purple 75/90 in tranny and rear end

So far -
- First dyno in March 2012 with injen and MRT 2.0 put down 252 rwhp.
- added additional parts / fluid changes in march 2012

Current plan
- will run new baseline dyno
- cam install
- will run "cam" dynos and tune
- install ported heads and cams
- install ported IM
- final dyno runs and check tune
- If needed: meth injection and some suspension pieces.
- Grin and see where we're at....

***** Day to Day updates *****
- 7/26: Cams paid for
- 7/30: Heads / new timing chains paid for. Transport arranged.
- 8/8: Transport: car picked up. On its way to Tracy!
- 8/11: Chakita arrives to Tracy at RX.
- 8/15: baseline dyno runs at RX: ~258 rwhp / 241 rwtq
- 8/16: Cams arrived to me and shipped to RX
- 8/17: Cams Arrive to Tracy
- 8/20: Techs out sick :(
- 8/21: More techs out sick :( :(
- 8/25: Initial teardown to install the cams
- 8/31: Car running with the cams and desperately needs a tune.
- 9/1: Sound clips posted.
- 9/3: More sound clips posted
- 9/5: Initial tune loaded, data logs captured and returned to Vince
- 9/6: ????
- 10/6: waiting on second grind to arrive - should be any time.
- 10/12: New grind arrived at Tracy's.
- 10/18: 2nd grind in, data logs to be captured
- 10/18 to 11/23: fit, refit, more fitting, more refitting
- 11/27: 3rd grind is in makes 282hp and still tuning!!

Yeah, that's just the cams: still need the suspension tweaks, after the cams are in and dyno'd / tuned need the intake, maybe a super chiller, get on the wait list for the CNC heads, rear gear swap....

Hmm this might take a while...

OK...very cool!

So its difficult to keep up with everyone so give us a re-cap. Didn't you recently add several mods, like insulator, and ported intake and such?

Do you have a recent dyno that you can use as a "before cams" dyno?

KM, yes I did. I didn't get a run in after the adds but I told steve I would do before / after when installing the cams. I'm still trying to get tint to get a run on the same dyno so I have before/ after on my previous adds. If I can, then will have my after run and the before run since the runs looks like it may be on different dynos.

True that....but I will say that I thought I read that because of the variable cam timing that we may not get quite as much "lope" sound as we think.

But still...it has got to be noticeable....I hope lol.

Not to mention Mace said these are more "streetable" vs aggressive. Their attempt to reach out to a broader audience. Maybe if these do well they will do more of an aggressive cam. Wonder what the 5.0 sounds like cammed

There was a dyno sheet in the camshaft for v6 - without looking think the gains were around 45 rwhp. My car dyno'd at 254 rwhp with an injen intake. Since then have added 3/8" black iceolator, 1 3/4" headers, 2.75" stainless ARK exhaust, port match on the the intake / heads, rx throttle body and trifecta tune which should be pretty close to 300 rwhp. It I haven't been able to re-dyno. So will dyno before and after the cam install plus we'll have to retune as well. If we get a solid 45rwhp gain I'll bd very pleased. Next step will be CNC heads and fuel system upgrades.

I'll pm you the price.

I hope you get to dyno sometime soon....I'm really curious to see what you can put down....of course the heat sure isn't helping things. Dynoing a heat soaked LLT will really kill the numbers.

Jay, can't wait. Plan as of tonight is to install the cams and get the tune sorted with the dynos and then add the IM. Getting details worked out for the install and should be finalized in a few days. Now just need that stroker kit!

There was talk about the CNCs by Brodix with a second boss for a 2nd fuel pump. If that doesn't work out will rework my heads / meth kit.
