Torn between SS 2 or SS 2 w/ 1le package..
Hello everyone. I am new to the Camaro world , but have been learning a lot through these forums. I am in the market for a Camaro , but I am torn, l am really fond of the appearance of the 1le package mainly because of the way it looks, I really like the flat black accents and the rims, but this car will be my daily driver and I am afraid that the suspension may be to stiff as I work offshore and travel back and forth to Louisiana every three weeks, anyone that knows those roads knows exactly what I am talking about. Dose anyone have any insight on how tight the suspension may be? I really don't want the ride to sway my decision, but I also don`t want to feel like I have been beat up every time I go to work in Louisiana. Thanks for any insight I may receive.

I would go 1LE, but if your not going to track it I wouldn't bother with it.

The suspensions in these cars are fairly tight regardless.
If I were in the market, I'd go 1LE

I'd go 1LE... it's one extra RPO code that could be a boost in value down the road.

1LE becuase the suspension on the SS is pretty stiff and your going to feel it anyway... also going with the 1LE makes you more unique

The SS has a pretty tight and stiff suspension as is. Bumpy roads are not much fun. The Pirelli tires are wide and sticky. They track every burble , crack and dip in the road. To be honest the 1LE may actually ride a bit better borrowing suspension parts from the ZL1.

1le without a doubt. Even for an everyday driver it will ride better than a regular ss.

The 1LE comes with monotube shocks which help performance and hurt ride quality. I don't expect it to be much worse than a regular SS though. The only person on this site that could tell you how the ride compares is Fbodfather. He's the only one I know of that's driven one yet out of people that post on this site.

1LE, but also consider the replacement cost of the tires.

1LE without a doubt will be harsher on the roads. If you want road comfort you have to go to the V6 unfortunately.
The SS and the SS 1LE are performance cars, they perform, that's what they do. Unfortunately an increase in performance leads to a decrease in comfort. No getting around that. If you're going to go SS, then I would do the 1LE. If you want to be able to make that Louisiana trip in ultimate Camaro comfort, it's all about the 2LT

For ultimate ride comfort in a Camaro go with a ZL1, the Mag ride is nothing less than amazing.

1LE. Some folks will bring up the cost of tires for it. Unlike the ZL1 you can put any replacment tires you want on the 1LE since you do not have the computer that is setup to use specific tires.
You also have a better gear ratio that will make the 2 ton car move better of the line. Should be a great car for the track, strip and street driving.

The real answer to your question will depend on what your coming from. I came from a 2006 Mustang Convertible. If you asked me, I would tell you that my SS convertible is one of the smoothest and quietest cars I've ever been in. It handles bumps so much better than the Mustang, I feel like I'm riding in a Lexus or something.
I would get the 1LE. You'll have one of the most distinguished and exciting cars on the road. You'll own a car that was truly designed for racing, how awesome is that? IMO, the wheels alone are reason enough to get the 1LE. |

Yeah those wheels really make it stand out and give the car a lot of character as dose the flat black hood.. SS 2 1LE it is.. Have any idea when the cutoff date is for ordering a 1le ? Do you think it will run as long as the SS; i believe the cutoff date for the SS is Mid March sometime. Thanks for all the insight..

I guess some of you guys miss understood me; what I meant was the cutoff to order a 2013. Not the end of the SS.
