Just ordered @ 1100 in Queens
I've been lurking for a few weeks and I decided this would be the perfect opportunity for my first post.
After getting discouraged by insane VW dealers who weren't able to sell me a CC for a price I deemed acceptable, I decided to order a Camaro. I shopped around and called about 20 dealers since Thursday. I was just about to order with Konner Chevrolet in NJ (great guys by the way and they have 8 allocations now), but I got a call back from Major World at 10am. Originally, Major told me $3-5K over sticker. When I laughed he told me the fair market adjustment was $10k. When I told him I was buying a car from another dealer this morning he changed his tune and got me the car for MSRP. I went in, gave him a deposit and then sat down with the inventory manager who submited my order in front of me. I have a "Preliminary Order Detail" which lists me in the 1100 Event and a scheduled build date of June 21. The allocation spot they gave me was slated for an inventory car but this guy wanted my sale again. Now the good stuff: I ordered a 2LT w/ RS package, and sunroof. Imperial Blue over Tan. If anybody has any advice for me? Is there anything I left out? Is there anyway they can change the price on me from this point? These dealers seemed like a bunch of crooks but I think I was able to nail them down the best I could. I have a copy of my build sheet showing the price, date, and an acknowledgment that the car is ordered, signed by myself. I also have the Preliminary Order Detail, and a receipt for the deposit amount (non refundable because the order has been placed with GM). |

GO back and make them fill out a yellow contract slip with "We will not mark up over MSRP with the Sales Managers signature. If they do not do it...RUN. They are a crooked bunch at Major World, do not trust anything.........GET IT 100% in writing, follow your GUT, you are on here because you are uneasy, do not ignore your feeling. Be

Hey Cenzo, Im in Queens too. I also went to Major Chevy to price the car and the guy told me right off the bat it was $4,000 over invoice as if I had no choice. I also laughed in his face and he quickly said "If I give it to you for MSRP will you leave a deposit today?" By the way, you're 100% right about them being crooks. Major World has the worst reputation in all of NYC ( I actually told him that), and theyre known to do very shady business. Be VERY careful. You got the car for MSRP which is good but make sure they dont pull any strings on you. I wouldnt buy a car form there even if they gave it to me below MSRP because they make me very uncomfortable. But thats just me. Just be careful, and congrats on the order.

They have not made the process easy. To date I have a faxed copy of my contract but have yet to receive my original copy. They are a very difficult dealership to work with and I plan on getting my financing done from a bank and handing them a check upon delivery.

You say they didnt make it easy.. Im curious, how did it go? After giving you MSRP what did they try to pull? I hate that place, just the way they look at you is like a pack of scheming wolves.

I don't know about going from event code 1100 to a build date of June 21, at 1100, it has not been pulled by production yet.... sounds fishy

Well, you may already be screwed anyway... If they do jack the price up on you, then did you find out if you can bow out NSA? Of all the dealers I called, one the first question I asked after how much the deposit was, is it FULLY refundable should a situation arise? When they said, something like "well, it depends on if we can get someone else who wants your order," or, "absolutely not, as a safety net for us/GM," I gladly said sorry for wasting your time, and hung up the phone. I'd check on it, if I were you. Hopefully it will work out for you without a problem. Good luck!

Hey guys just another word of advice since you all know Major is the biggest crook in NY.
Watch out for HB Chevrolet in Queens NY, they have a better scam going like this: they wanted me to sign a contract order form without a solid contract price, because they said GM could raise the price by the time the car comes in (B/S). A contract is a contract period. You should NEVER sign anything with an open price. And for the guy who ordered from Major be aware that its a state law in NY that if you cancel ANY contract within 72 hours they MUST give you your deposit back. Send a return receipt requested letter overnight from the post office that you are cancelling your order then they dont have a leg to stand on....its the LAW |

New dealer update. Meyer Chevrolet in Queens NY now says he has filled his alotment for the year. Doesn't know if he can order any more camaro's. What line that is. (B/S) I think he has a small alotment and wants to sell the cars over sticker cause he saw how eager we were to order from him on friday and then on monday he changed his mind about taking our order. Anyway we just ordered today from Widger Chevy in Livingston NJ. No problem, and they seem very professional. At least my orders in.

Meyer told me a month ago they had 15 on line and wouldn't have another allocation open until November. Paul Conte had a wait list but told me I could have a car in 6-10 weeks. I went with Major because they called me back and met the offer made by Konner Chevy of NJ.
I finally have my buyer's agreement (took long enough) and am waiting for my car. |
