Absolutely. The direct injection engines are particularly susceptible to carbon build up because they do not have any fuel washing over the valves.

I have a 2012 LFX. Should I get a single valve? How's the install? Are there detailed instructions for some who is mechanically-challenged like me? Thanks.

Yes, single valve is what you need. The install is pretty straight forward and instructions should be included.

What exactly do I need to do if I order a dual valve without a supercharger but later want to put one on so i dont end up buying 2 catch cans?

Just specify "cap secondary valve" when ordering and the dual valve will come with one capped until needed in the future.
