The Olympics

Anyone else paying attention???

On Friday, during the opening ceremonies, I mentioned that Lochte was going to kick Phelps' a$$.... He's got that "hunger" for gold that Phelps used to have. And I was right.... so far, at least.

I can't believe anyone responded at all. Was beginning to think nobody has a television!!
There have been some really great moments in these Olympics - those of you not paying attention are missing out....

I've been watching off and on, but I just witnessed a great robbery in the "boxing" event (replay) :(

That was kind of disgusting...
The great moments I was talking about were the swimming medals for 17 year old Missy Franklin, who passed up endorsements so she could keep swimming with her high school swim team, and also continued to train at home with her "unknown" coach. And the medals in gymnastics - Gabby Douglas is the first American woman to win both the individual all-around gold AND the team all-around gold, and a year ago, she almost quit, but her sister talked her into sticking with it. And double amputee Oscar Pistorius making it to the semi-finals in the 400 meter in track. And Michael Phelps becoming the most decorated Olympic athlete in history...
There's some really inspirational stuff. I'm a little sappy, so I've been shedding a few tears while I watch....

And the Chinese hurdler who hit the 1st hurdle, was injured, hopped on one foot to finish the race, then was helped off the track by two athletes from 2 other countries.... The sportsmanship is amazing. World peace IS possible...
