CAI inc or Vararam ?

I am looking into a cold air intakes and was wondering what people have been using and how the performance has been after installing either intakes. Also, I am not that car-savvy so how is the installation on either intake?

I've been debating the same question myself, but from a performance standpoint everyone says vararam wins but from an overall design standpoint the CAI is better, wit the vararam u have to tilt the radiator bak so the intake can come over top of it, then there is an isulator tht sits ontop of the radiator but does not get secured also the radiator to anything same wit the radiator nothing locks it in from wat I know

As for the CAI I've heard nothing but praise about it from installation (almost the same as stock but has its differences obviously) to over all feel of how it performs nd also if u add the scoop it's makes it better so decision time lol

Can't speak from the Camaro stand, but I had a Vararam on my GTO and I hated it! PITA to install and get to fit just right. Never again for me.

The Vararam produces good numbers but it has it's draw backs. As Mike mentioned the CAI systems are a very well put together package and a strong performer, especially when you add a scoop.

thanks for feedback guys! I just got my camaro a month ago and just started getting mods for it and wanted to get a good cold air intake that would go hand and hand with my newly installed borla exhaust! How are the performance gains for either intake if anyone knows?

Are you going to Camaro5Fest? We will have a V6 on display at our tent with the CAI Inc intake and Borla exhaust. It sounds great. Belongs to Camaro5 member RubyCamaro and she would be happy to give you her feedback. Feel free to shoot her a PM.

Another problem we are facing is the R&D waiting times for our LFX's. If you're not familiar the 2010-11 have the LLT and the 2012 has the LFX. There are differences so Vararam is making a new model for 12 and up.

I personally like both of them and hear they produce very similiar numbers, but the centered-up design of the VR is why I'm choosing to wait. If VR doesn't have something by year end I'm most definetly buying the CAI. I actually like the glass-top design and from an engineering standpoint it is insulated very well.

Good luck with your choice!

You should think about getting the scoop and wash tank relocation kit for the CAI brand from Chase. I am VERY glad I made that decision.

Not the intake itself but the lower grill, nd it directs the air up nd into the intake, but the stock washer bottle interferes wit it u will need a relocation kit for tht or lose the bottle all together

Does the scoop make a noticeable difference really? Did you run it with and without the scoop?
