DIY - Stock Side Skirt/Rocker Removal and ZL1 installation.

Guys/Gals,

Since this site has been such a big help to me, I thought I would give back. I made a video (best I could) of how to remove your stock side skirts (rockers) and install the ZL1 side skirts (rockers).

How I did it may not be the right way, but I couldn't find a single video on it...so I hope what I have here is better then nothing for anyone looking to do this mod.

Very nice. What about a follow up photo of the aftermath?

Nice video! Got a link to where you purchased the side skirts?

I have a ZL1 grill and a custom painted rear bowtie yet to install, but I will post some aftermath photos soon.

I got the painted ZL1 skirts, havoc rear diffuser, customer painted front and rear bowties, ZL grill, and painted low grill ports from Gary's Custom (also known as orange10s.c. here on the C5 boards). Great guy, great communication, and quality work.

He has various threads of the products he sells in the Sponsors Classified Marketplace section, look under exterior parts.

Nice.. I wish this video was around when I did my instal. I had no trim tools, Buckeye. Can you imagine my frustration ? I pulled both of them off with my hands

Sorry man...I feel your pain. I looked forever for a video and couldn't find one...hence the reason I decided to do one. I couldn't imagine doing it without the trim tools to be honest. There would have been ALOT of cussing coming out of my garage for sure!

Not sure which side skirts you're specifically reffering too, but the removal part would be the same.

I think the closest aftermarket ones to the ZL1 skirts are the havoc but they attach to the bottom of the stock skirts I believe...so you wouldn't have to do the stock skirt removal.

Really excellent video, just got the ZL1 side skirts off a C5 member about 2 weeks ago and they arrived while I was away on vacation. I got them painted the factory way, but I like the look you have with the whole skirt painted by Garys. I'll likely get the front from Garys.

I have to order the trim tool kit from Harbor Freight and a set of clips (in case I break any during removal) and I will be all set, but this video really helped me to know what I am in for!

Thanks again!

Cheers,
George

Just wanted to say thanks for posting this video, just swapped out the skirts for the ZL1 skirts! This video made it very easy, took about 90 minutes start to finish even with setting up and getting tools ready!

I installed my ZL1 Rockers last weekend and followed the advice in the OP's video. It was very helpful.

That little plastic trim tool was a lifesaver for releasing the plastic clips.

It probably took me about 1 hour to complete the job.
