Looks like everybody was having fun. Where is that track? California? Can see why you would want a 1LE now.

Dilute the product? Boy are you DILUTED! LOL Nobody wants a 1LE, they want the Z/28 and the only reason people will buy the 1LE option is because of talk. MANY MANY more people will buy a car that has a Z/28 badge on it.

I know this is a touchy subject with many here, but personally, I don't care what badge is on it. This is not a 1LE model, it is an SS with the 1LE package, just like 1LE has always been, a package, not it's own model. I think it will be a great car at a competitive price. It isn't built for everyone, there are plenty of Camaros to choose from.

I talked with Aaron Link (engineer and test driver) earlier this summer and for the Nurburgring run in the ZL1, they didn't even optimize the alignment specs on the car, which was production spec with a cage and racing seat. They also did it on a real lap, unlike Porsche, which adds together segment times to get their published numbers.

2010 Camaro SS - 3:09.50
2012 Camaro 1LE - 2:58.34 2012 Camaro ZL1 - 2:52.38 Yeah, I'd say the 1LE package is worth $3500....

Ford said it can do 200 and I believe them. Do I care that it can? No!but I know there are too many ways to look bad if it doesn't. Do I believe it is under optimal conditions? Yes. But that is with every claim. Just like 1/4 mile times and everything else.

Try to buy all the suspension upgrades coilovers and goodyear F1 G2 tires and wheels alone for that money on your SS and let see where it brings you! That is the best upgrade package price I've ever seen in any car!

Every Race team running the Camaro will order the 1LE since it's from the Manufacturer. For this kind of "so little money" a lot of guys like me looking to get a track car on a budget will go that route too... it's a great bargain.

A lot of people that will purchase an SS1LE, including me, will call it just a 1LE. Much like V-6 guys call a 1LT/RS an RS. Just sounds cooler is all.

New buyers? no. Chevy owners? mainly 2010+ Camaro owners? yes absolutely So that's why you will wait...only hard core fan (mostly) will buy this product and since we are already customer waiting to trade our actual ride, we will have to wait until next Gen or the last year of this gen to swap to make it even more commercially viable. That's my take anyway. The Z28 was the moniker for an entry level V8 car... cosmetically it was unique and performance wise it was not to come close to the SS 1LE. The past his repeating itself here once again.

Hold on a sec. I seem to remember the ZL1 beating a LS Boss by 2.45 seconds in the Motortrend test. That was by a pro driver under the same conditions. You're telling me the 1LE can beat it by four on VIR. Please! Looking forward to running into one of these on the track. Don't buy into hero runs or you'll be seriously disappointed at the track.
I will admit that was some great driving in the video. Look forward to a test by Motortrend with Randy driving.

Try to prove me that there wasn't an SS that had a bigger engine and better performance then the Z28 in any of the Generations?

The Z/28 was not an entry level V8 model. It was set up for Trans Am racing with the 5 liter displacement cap so the Z/28 came with the 302. Just because there are other cars with bigger engines, doesn't mean the Z/28 was entry level.

Yes, correct, 1LE is a package..The Z/28 was also a package that became a car. Difference is everyone recognizes a badge and will buy because of the badge. This is a hell of a deal for any package with the changes it has included. The smart buyers(AKA camaro5 users and enthusiasts) will purchase this package and little to no one else because they don't have the knowledge of it and you can't depend on dealers to have that info. That was the only reason for me saying it was a waste of a name. ME? Yes of course I am thinking about trading up, then buying headers and cam and I'll have my little slice of heaven..or maybe I will wait just a tad longer and keep praying that I can just have that same car but with a warranty..Z/28
