Leather Boot Shifter on Automatic Shifter

For those of you who have put on a stock OEM leather boot on an automatic shifter may have noticed a gap between the boot and the cluster gauges. I read on here that in order to fix that issue you have I trim the tabs on the leather shifter frame. I would like to know where exactly do you trim & how much trimming is needed? I have a pic here and would like to know if this is the right spot. It is highlighted and has arrows pointing towards the spots.

George... Aka CFD sent me this pic saying that this is what the vendors offer... So it appears they trim both tabs as you can tell. This could be the answer!

Well I trimmed the tabs on the boot and I got it to fill in the gaps.
Before: (note: not my shifter but it did look like this)

After:

Been looking at doing the same thing. Looks like you need to clean up at cup holder.

If you the note above the pic it says "note: not my shifter..." in other words it's not my car or shifter in that pic. Hah!
I was just using that as an example of my gap I had.
