My first try at the strip?

I run my car at c5 fest for the first time. There were a couple things that made no sense to me. The temp and humidity was crazy high but my car would pick up mph everytime I would hot lap it. My fastest two passes were my third and fourth consecutive passes with out even turning the car off. Everytime I would run multiple hot laps it would pick up about .3-.4mph each pass. When it rained and my car set for a couple hours and was cool it run its slowest mph of the day. Does this seem odd to anyone else?
The other thing I thought was odd was I run my street tires and wheels Friday 315/35/20 conti which are heavy approx 75lbs, and switched to 18" vette wheels and DR's on saturday and picked up nothing. My fastest each day was basicly identicle. My best 60' was 1.77 with each setup, mph was 114.?? it was definatly more consistant with DR's on.
I also think my converter should be a little looser as I can only get to about 2200 rpm before it starts pushing through the brakes and it doesn't seem to pull hard until about the 60' mark.

There are a lot of variables that could make a difference here. You picking up mph....could've been attributed to better launchs, better shifting, or even better weather conditions.

Your car not getting better with the DRs. How did you heat them up? And, did you launch the car at a higher RPM (which is one of the advantages of having DRs)?

The first obvious questions would be. Was every run done in the same mode? Nannies on or off or some combination? What were the actual track temps on the runs and tire pressure between runs? Same rpm launches ect...

Keep in mind that the car is naturally aspirated, no SC ot Turbo, so temperature may not be a changing factor. For me, it looks like the driver was getting better launches and tires were warmer.

Trust me....tempatures make a difference even on a NA car.

Run you car at 3 or 4 in the afternoon (hottest part of the day)....then go run at 8 or 9. Track is usually cooler and thus lets you launch better.

You should be launching off of idle. Or at about 1000 r.p.m. The converter will work better when you flash it from idle and stall higher, rather than trying to load it. You will also cook your trans trying to load it that high while holding the foot break.

My 60' last 3 passes in order were 5:52 pm 1.85, 113.03mph, 6:08pm 1.79, 113.61mph, 6:14pm 1.79, 114.08mph. So track conditions and air quality couldn't change alot in that amount of time. I put it in sport mode and try to launch the same each time.
I made 4 passes on friday in less than 30 min and each of those were faster mph than the on before. 60' stayed very consistant.
Light smoke and rpm at around 2000 rpm at launch.

An admin should move it for you. I wouldn't start a new one. It's also a no no to post the same thing in two areas.
