what mod next?

Okay so I have a little birthday $ to spend. Ruby is a pretty darn good racer for V6 so what mod should be next to make her just a bit better? Suspension? Throttlebody? Tune? something else altogether? What say ye?

Get your tune after your done with all your mods that way everything is all insych with each other. Ported TB with eliminate the dead spot when you step on it. Saw Ruby at the fest and she's looking good!! Suspension would be great for your next Auto-X. Have you done the Black-Iceolater? Well worth the $$$ I think I picked mine up at the fest for $130, LOVE IT!!!

Ok well that's easy; anything goes hehe. What are your goals for the car? Drag racing? Autocross? Road Course? Or just better street performance?

Oh yeah, & 20 in Lorenzo wheels & Faulkin preformance tires. All of the above, a good balance. She is no longer a daily driver but I still do drive her to work sometimes, & to shows, etc. & need her to be drivable on streets (ie: not to low to navigate parking lot entrances/exits & other road hazards & not so stiff as to be uncomfortable to ride in. Though I do not plan to drive her in the snow, as I learned her first winter, sometimes you get caught out and a surprise snow happens & I need to be able to get her (& me) home safely if I drive smart. But I love to drag race & she seems to be a naturally good car for it. I enjoyed autocross too at the fest. I may get 2-3 chances a year to drag in club sponsored events & maybe 1 or 2 to autocross. I do not plan to drag or autocross truly competitively at this point, just for fun.

Get the rear cradle bushings upgraded to Pedder's bushings. Ask Justice Pete on the forum, he'll give you the exact numbers to order. That will help control the power to the ground and give you better throttle control while cornering which is a huge benefit in autocross. And I would also upgrade the sway bars since you like autocross. Pedders and other vendors have sway bar upgrades. Also upgrade the end links to whichever ones the vendor who makes your sway bar upgrade recommends; the stock endlinks aren't very strong.

Stainless steel braided brake lines will improve the brake feel.

Change the differential fluid; I use Royal Purple MaxGear 75w90. That will lower the rolling resistance and also help protect the gears since you're doing drag racing.

For drags I'd also upgrade the rear trailing arms; I got the Pfadt which are lighter and stronger than the stock arms, they won't twist or break.

All those upgrades are relatively inexpensive; you can probably get all of it done with installation for under $1k.

After that if you still have the mod bug (which is almost a dead certainty hehe) then there are things like coil overs which can allow you to lower the car while maintaining the ride quality, and they are adjustable so you can stiffen them for the track. You can add power; many ways to go there all the way from headers to custom engine work.

For drag racing (and autocross) weight reduction is a huge benefit. Check my project thread:

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=45165

you'll find all kinds of info that may be useful to you in what you want to do with your car, but I'd do the basic things I outlined above. Once you get used to the improvements you'll have a better idea of what you want to improve next.

Hit me up Ruby and we will get you squared away as always. With the all the racing you have been doing lately some suspension upgrades will make a big difference.

If you think the car handles great, then add more power. Then you might need to revisit the handling again.

Auto or 6 speed manual?

What do you plan on doing the most of, and when? Drag racing or autocross?

Budget might also be the deciding factor of what you do first; what kind of budget do you have to work with?

Oh, yeah, tune! That too. Chase seems to be leaning toward water bottle relocation, & scoop added to my CAI Inc intake & the Black Ice-Olator............. or a variety of suspension mods. As for what I do with her. Drive her mostly for fun but sometimes to work, shows, around town, etc, sometimes drag & autocross but just club events, Camaro/LS type events not serious competetion.

Well I'd say rear cradle bushing upgrade and sway bars; that'll give you the biggest bang for the buck at the moment. You'll appreciate right away the improvement in the way the car handles and goes around corners. It'll make a little bit of difference in drag racing and a lot of difference in autocross.

The scoop added to your CAI is only going to be useful at higher rpms like in drag racing so that's something I'd do later. The suspension upgrades will be noticed the moment you step on the gas and anytime you turn a corner.

Call Apex Chase and he'll be able to get you the right stuff.
