Front Ground Effects Lip Problem
Hello Everyone!
This is my first post as I have just signed up here. I am a proud owner of a fully optioned out 2010 Camaro 2SS/RS. There are a few pictures of it below. I have a problem tho and am wondering if I can find my answer here. The front GFX piece came loose in the center under normal highway wind loads and was dragged for miles before I brought her home and noticed it. It was hanging down in the middle and worn through. It was still attached on the sides because of the clips and bolts but all the double stick adhesive was only stuck to the GFX piece, not the front fascia. I've been working with the dealership when I can to figure this dilema out. Well last night I met another 2010 SS owner with GFX and he said his are the "new design" his were not on his car, as they were being painted black to match his black car. He said his does not have a "underbelly" like mine did. And it is attached differently. As far as I can tell from looking at the dealership installation manual for the GFX, mine were installed properly to GM specs. Well that's fine, but it doesn't work!!! I've heard that others on this board are starting to have the same problem. Can anyone shed some light on this topic for me???

i ain't heard about that problem, but if it continues to be a problem with more cars, i'd say there'll be some kind of redesign.

Thank You!
Also I guess I could add it is a LS3 M6 in case anyone was wondering. Also I just picked up my painted engine cover from the dealer that just came in. Apparently they discontinued this option after so many were produced? Guess I got lucky!

Funny you mention that...
This car was randomly selected to have QC performed on it leaving the factory. Well this never happened before they shipped it to the dealership. The dealership never received the invoice from the factory for this reason...didn't figure this out for over a week! I ended up getting in touch with someone at Chevrolet His secretary found the problem and told me they would send a car hauler to pick the car up from the dealership and take it to a local facility to have the QC tests done. I told them to pull another car off the factory lot and test that one because I wanted to take delivery of my car! They "couldn't do that" apparently, and my car was gone somewhere for two days. Finally took delivery after the car sat at the dealership in a bay for almost two weeks!!! I know that has nothing to do with the GFX because it is a dealer installed option but it was a tiring hassle. I was bascially fighting with GM to give them $43k. Haha.

Also, I couldn't agree more with your signature. I too had many problems with the customer service I received. Not to mention my car had 49 miles on it when it arrived at the dealership...

This is the second one Ive heard of the front GFX coming off and getting ruined. Apparently the dealer in the first instance skipped out on some adhesive in the middle and it did the same thing as yours.
Id ask your dealer about it for sure. |

Do a search on this problem, there are at least two other forum members who have had this problem. One of them said there is a recall on it (not sure if that was true) but apparently this is a known problem with how and where they are attaching the front piece.
BTW you did choose the perfect color....!

They are silver. It is a very light silver in the pictures, but it looks amazing in person. I would vote silver over white personally.

Your car color combination are PERFECT. I don't like red jewel but damn you are putting me on the fence.
Also, normally, I say paint the ground effects--but don't! It looks so good on your car just the way it is. The only thing I would personally do differently is the rims, but that's just because they are to ghetto for my taste. I mean Jesus WTF this is beautiful... |

And I'm glad I'm not the only one with this problem, but I hate to see GM having problems with this car. I am 30 minutes from Detroit and it's sad to see GM hurting as much as they are. For all of you that think buying a foreign car isn't a big deal, you're wrong. It greatly affects many people in my area.

Please post more pictures of this car! Particularly the interior. This is the exact color scheme I am considering for my personal car. Is the interior beige? If so, what color is the carpet? There's no such thing as a brochure at any dealer in town, and GM's Camaro website is completely void of any interior detail. We took delivery on my son's RY 2SS/RS a few days ago, and it has black interior, which I don't want.
Thanks if you can post more, and sorry to hear about your GFX. I think you should paint them!

wow, this thing looks so classy, beautiful ride!!!!.... I'd love to see GM offer white interior in the future and I'd for sure buy this exact combo, w/ out the wheels of course, the price just seems way out of line on those.
Also as mentioned, I'd like to see it with color match GFX but would fear it may change the look you have right now.... wow |
