OIL QUESTION

Are you staying with Mobil 1 after break in or are you switching to another brand?

I'm pretty fond of Mobil 1. Its readily available at WalMart or at my dealer. There may be better oils out there, but as long as the oil is changed at reasonable intervals, I don't see a reason to switch.

If you like Mobil 1, the Mobil 1 EP is even more better. More anti wear additives. The base Mobil 1 seems to have cut back lately according to internet scuttlebutt which who knows if accurate.

BTW, it didn't come with Mobil 1, so you really wouldn't be staying with it, more like switching to it. Not that there is anything wrong with that.

I ran the Dexos the dealer put in for the 1500 mile break-in period. Now I'm changing the cam, running more boost, and pushing the redline up a little so I don't think 5w is a good idea and something with more ZDDP would be preferred. I considered Mobil 1 and Royal Purple. After doing some research it seems they're pretty equal other than Mobil 1 may get a little farther between oil changes. What I'm not sure about is what weight to run. Going to start with some Royal Purple 10w40 XPR (after cam break in 10w-30 beak in oil) and see what oil pressures I run then go from there.

I used Red Line oil in my 1999 C5 vette. I liked it but I haven't done any research yet as to what guys are running. I intend to mod the car a bit net year so I just wanted to be proactive.
