Any Indy Pace Car owners?

Past weekend I drove by a dealership in North Augusta, SC. They have a used 2014 Indy Pace Car for sale. 2SS/RS convertible, auto.

I've never seen one of these before. I thought all pace cars were Z/28's. Anybody have one?

Mighty wicked looking, IMO...

You are correct the pace car that year was a Z/28. They loan a car to all 33 of the 500 Festival Committee members and IMS normally gets 17 cars for a total of 50. These are called "Festival Cars" or "Official Cars" and they will sometimes differ from the pace car. There were years (like last year) when the Corvette was the pace car and the Festival cars were Camaros. Note that it says "Official Vehicle" on the door and not "Official Pace Car." They like to use convertibles for the 500 Festival Parade. I don't own one but did drive a few of them. This year and last year there were/will be 100 cars, the extra 50 going to area dealers. BTW did you see my post on the Camaro6 site?

EDIT: No extra 50 for this year for dealers after all, there are 54 Camaros #1-54

Thanks for the info on the difference between the pace car vs official vehicle.

While on the subject of "official vehicles"... Many years ago, I lived in Aiken SC - not far from Augusta GA, home of The Masters. Every year, in the spring the local Cadillac dealer would have a fleet of 4-doors that would be fitted with special decals with the emblem of Augusta National. As picky as the National is, I doubt the cars were sold with the decals but they were indeed "official vehicles".

So, that convertible is one of 50? Interesting!

Yeah in '14 there were 50 'verts (#1-50) and one coupe (#51).
There was a short thread a while back:

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=354173

They arrived in Indy with no graphics and silver wheels. After they got the wheels swapped they were delivered to the Speedway and the graphics were applied there. Here's some before the graphics:

I got a white 2015 Pace Car and then removed the decals and it was 66/100... These were also Commemorative Edition's. The dealer told me he picked it up at the Indy 500 and was able to take it around the track a couple times...then drove it back to the dealership. When I got it, there was 298 miles on it (2 weeks ago).
