What temp does your car run/idle at?

just wondering, mine seems to be in the 190s driving and will hit about 219 idling before the fan brings it back down to the low 200 range

Mine runs really cool, it never goes to the middle mark ever. It goes below the middle mark no matter how hard I run it.

Check the manual. I'm sure it's nothing.

I mean on the actual temp display on the digital display, my gauge never even hits halfway

That is normal for a modern day EFI car. The industry standard seems to be using a 195° thermostat, the coolant will stay in the engine untill it reaches that temperature, and thermostat will close again when the coolant drops below to keep the engine in that operating temperature range.

If you are concerned about the temp. use Purple Ice (from the same folks that make Royal Purple). This was the only stuff that even came close to working in the hummers in IZ.

On my '04 GTO (LS1) the factory programming doesn't even turn on the fans until something close to 220 (unless you run the AC). At that temp the gage still reads normal. And will read normal unless the temp gets to something like 230, at which point the gage will suddenly jump to the red.

I bet the Camaro temp gage is "nerfed" to always read normal like the GTO, but I'd like to be wrong about that.

My '02 low fan wouldn't come on until something like 220* and the high fan until like 230 or some crap. A tune and t-stat fixed that. It wasn't until I mounted a coolant gauge that I actually saw how hot it ran all the time. Eventually, I removed my washer reservoir (and replaced it with a different one), and removed the air deflectors from in front of the condensor did I actually get a significant reduction in coolant temps'. That will be different from this car though because it's not a bottom breather.

It doesn't sound like you coolant is actually runnning too hot though.
