Ported and polished throttle body. Unless I was told wrong it is the same thing as the vmax.

Huh. That's something else to think about then... Do they offer a core exchange like the Vmax? Or do you just send them you tb and they send it back a few days later?

Send them your TB and they get it right back to you. Give them a call and talk to Ryan, Tim or Jeff.

The Vmax isn't exactly the same as a ported/polished TB. It's CNC machined into a spiral pattern with very tight tolerances, and supposedly produces better results than if it were done by hand.

Are there any test on the vmax vs other in house porting jobs? Just out of curiosity.

Oh damn I forgot that the vmax has the spiral pattern and not a polished tb... Oops. I think that was my bad there...

Here's one Vmax thread with some testing. I don't see a dyno graph there, but he gives all the numbers in his writeup.

So basically 5-6 rwhp and 4-5 rwt on the vmax.

Taken from the write up and I thought it was kind of interesting since this is a big selling point for these intakes.

" Some ask about the swirl effect or spiral cut of the bore, and initally this was just how the digitizing designed the cutting path. We have no testing to show that this cutting pattern is better then a straght cut, but it certainly does not hurt.*"

From the makers of "6 minute Abs", we bring you the new and improved 96mm TB...it does everything the 95mm does, except it does it 1mm better!! Order today and we'll throw in 6 ozs of "Horsepower in a can". Much like HP in a bottle, but recyclable!! Order now!

A properly ported TB(cnc or by hand) will put up respectable gains compared to an aftermarket piece. Ive seen too many on the dyno and the track being tested(properly ported and not) to say its worth it. They are popular for two reasons, its a low cost mod and easily installed.

Ive seen them done all kind of ways lol.
Had one guy bring one to a dyno day years back that he put on his car(that he done himself), nice and pretty and shiney but no material was removed really, just polished up. Didnt have any gains, he wound up having it done.
