Problem with Dyno Tune.

I had my Camaro Dyno tuned a few months ago, but ever since the car has been shifting really hard(A6). I mean to the point no one wants to drive it( possibly a good thing). But now no one even wants to ride in it any more. At low or high speed or rpm's it will snap your head back. I don't mind really but am worried about something breaking at some point. Any input is appreciated.

Well even if it's just for comforts sake you could always have the tune changed to decrease the shift firmness. Really, you want the shift to occur quickly. But the quicker it shifts, the firmer it shifts. It shouldn't be shifting as hard as you're saying it is tho. So just see if the tuner can leave you with a few different settings that you can choose for yourself.

It can be lighting fast and not snap your neck. Did you ask your tuner about this? He should be able to make it how you want.

Well he said the only option was to go back to stock settings. But wanted to hear some second opinions first. Thanks for your responses.

Find a real tuner. Sounds like all he knows is to max out the pressures.

It's going to be re tuned after the cam install. But my real major concern was if it's doing this now what's it gonna due with the cam and such. But I guess the new tune will take care of it.

even leaving the stock settings in the tcm, the trans shift feel can change when you install things like gears, cams, change spark timing, etc etc.

the trans logic is not the same as the 4 speeds and work in conjunction with the engine tune.

find a new tuner.

Looks like he just disabled the torque management. Your Trans will need tuning as well Jeff and since your going to be making more power a Trans cooler will be in order as well.

We are installing a trans cooler. The new tuner said it was a must.

If you have no torque management it will probably bark the tires and shift hard. Jim @ Speed Inc. left a bunch in for me since I drive around on street tires.

Tampa Tuning Camaro Corvette GTO GM Trucks performance tuning

Since we do so many automatic transmissions at Tampa Tuning, and hired the guy who wrote the book for the tuning school on the A6 transmission tuning, we've slight modified how we configure our transmission stratigies. We use your torque management to assist with WOT shifts, and also use it to have firm and quick shifts under 35% throttle.

I get constant calls from shops around the world wanting to buy our transmission tune. I know they use it over and over again, but I design it owner to owner.

The first conversation with a vehicle owner is how do you want your transmission set up. Im going to make it nice and firm at WOT, but do you want your transmission quick, hard and firm every time, or quick, short and firmer the more you tip into the throttle.

I found guys like quick and firm shifts in traffic, but harder, shorter and firmer after 40% throttle position. As the transmission experts, we can do that.

Most tunes I see just increase pressure and shorten the shift times and send you on your way and call it a transmission tune.

the A6 is a great transmission for comfort tuning, It just doesnt hold high horsepower like Id like to it

it's nice that the new transmissions have the ability to customize torque management so easily. it's actually easier to tune the a6 than the a4, IMO.

if there are really tuners out there tuning the a6 the same way as an a4, they really need to get their heads out of the sand.

No Completely different.

We have the fastest A6 cars around, everyone else gives up and switches to 4L80E.
