Ran a 10:3 tonight

First time at the track with stage 2 completed on the car. DA was 1067 and the air temp was around 73*.

The first pass on the pump gas tune I checked track conditions and the track was working pretty good. The car ran a 10:5 at 136 with a 1.7 short time.

I hot lapped it and launched a little harder. This time it went 10:4.

I then added some race gas and 1 degree of timing. After letting the car sit for about 30 minutes it went 10:3 on a 1.63 60'. Things were progressing well so I loaded the full race gas tune and got ready to go again. Before I could make a pass a Mustang blew the motor at about the 1000' mark, went through the traps at 124 MPH while doing a 360. He never hit anything.
4 runs later a dragster hit the wall so our night was over. That driver was also ok.

Based on the conditions, how the track prep was and the ton of timing I just added with race fuel it would have been great to see what the car could actually do. I will head back out in a couple of weeks. These runs were with a full interior, 3/4 tank of fuel, no iceing of the blower and using the stock convertor.

Full time slip, video and data log analysis tomorrow and I will post more info. Off to bed.

Here is the video. I wasn't going for reaction time here, just feeling the car out. I didn't launch to aggressively yet it still spun into second.

Damn that baby rolls out!!!! So it looks like you will be able to run 9's with even less then what it took livernois but you do have better weather. I would love to see it go 9's on the stock converter so that it proves that a zl1 can go 9's with just engine mods and a tire nothing else unlike the oval pony's.

Very impressive MPH. It takes allot of horse power to go 136 at over 4000 pounds. Is this still with the 1.9 blower?

FWIW years ago we had my friends Mustang going 9.50s @137 . That goes to show what your car is capable of if it hooks and goes.
I say 9.90s next time out.

Pushing one of these cars into the 9's is much much harder than everyone thinks it is. Your friends mustang prob weighs at least 500 lbs less.

That's a great first time out. And the air keeps getting better!

Yes, that is the goal. With the tune I just flashed in there it should go 10:1 pretty easily. I will also not run 3/4 tank of fuel next time and we will see what a little better DA brings! I am not going to use a slick either.

Thanks. It is the stock ported 1.9 blower. I will take another lb out of the DR's next time and shoot for a low 1.5 60'. It has it in it and that along with put me right at 10:15. The race gas tune should help a lot as well. Too bad the track go mess up for we ll over an hour until closing.
