CAR and DRIVER Tested: 2012 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 vs. 2013 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500

Here is yet another video comparison of our two favorite heavyweights. I apologize if this is a repost but I did a diligent search and did not find it.

We take the 2012 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 and 2013 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 to the track to see which one will be supreme in the pony-car kingdom. It's the ultimate muscle car show down. Need we say more?

Thanks for the vid... Boy looks wise the GT500 has been growing on me like crazy recently. In my 35 years of driving I've never cared, never given one a second look... The rims and tires on it for me make it look stock or something though, it just doesn't go... A different set or rims and some wider tires in the back, and I think it would Killer.

Funny but just the opposite for me. The mustangs including the Shelbys are looking more and more dated to me now while the ZL1 looks keep growing on me. I owned a 2010 Shelby for two years. Was a fun car but not nearly as balanced and sorted out as the ZL1. Btw, you can't go with wider tires on the rear of the Shelby without some rework underneath which is one reason they don't come from the factory with wider tires..

ya I guess the Mustangs are like the Vettes, dated and all kinda look the same. I have a brand new '12 Vette and everyone is pretty surprised that it's new, they think it's many many years old. The Camaro being a new fresh design really helps.

I should have figured there's a reason for the small rear tires. I think the reason why I am taking interest in the new GT500 is strictly because of the HP. If it had say 450HP I wouldn't cared one bit. It's like the megapixel race that Canon and Nikon go through. I am always chasing the megapixel. I've always used Canon but just switched over, sold my 21MP for a NIkon 36MP. Now there's rumour of a 46MP Canon coming, and Imma wantin...
