Rear seatbelt help needed after mods!!!

So this is a slightly odd problem. Some of you have followed my ongoing build and although I haven't yet made it back to the dyno, I've had a lot of fun showing off for friends and family. So the problem is with the back seat belts! I'm getting complaints from passengers in the rear that when I accelerate hard, they sink into the seat and the belts lock from the G force. Then when I let up on the gas either to shift or just to slow down, the seatbelt stays locked and holds them sunk into the seat!

They say it actually hurts! What an odd issue to have!

the pendulum mechanism in the seat belt is locking because you have hit the threshold for the mechanism to lock in g's. They have to unlatch the belt and let it retract.

the front seats will also lock you in...exhale all you can, push yourself deeper into the seat it will release the pressure on the belt so it can
retract just enough to release it....happens to me all the time in
the driver seat.....always hittin those G's

If it's ratcheting tighter, it is in child seat mode. If you pull a passenger belt all the way out, it goes into a ratcheting mode for installing a child seat. Tell the passengers not to pull the belt all the way out when putting it on. If it goes into ratcheting mode only way to release it is to fully retract it and start over, not pulling it so far out this time.

I had a friend that when riding in my pickup would constantly pull the belt all the way out then latch it... then complain that it was ratcheting them in tighter. I explained it a hundred times not to pull it all the way out, never helped. The long term fix is skinnier friends.

The owner's manual explains the ratcheting feature in the child seat section.

I agree. I also have decided nobody is allowed in the back seat anymore...tired of everyone kicking everything on their way in and out.

The seat belts lock and load early and often under hard acceleration or lateral loading. I feel they are set up just right and give the driver/occupants stability within the cabin under performance driving situations.

That is the pendulum G force locking. If they are staying locked and ratcheting tighter, that's child seat mode.
