1969 396 375hp camaro real drag times with slicks

I was just trying to remember what quarter mile times the 375hp would run with slicks. Can anyone remember or had experience ?

1/4 mile, sec. @ mph: 14.7 @ 98.7

Judging by the MPH, it would probably run a high 13 with slicks?

I understand what was listed but my best friend ran 13.9 with a 396, 325hp with me watching I am 63 ,,,, I was there honest to God truth,,,,,,,,, another friend had a 350, 300hp that ran a consistent 14.9
I personally had a 1970 350, 300hp chevelle that ran a 14.8. The 13.9 above was a chevelle not a camaro. I don't understand where those slow times came from. Maybe they were autos, back then autos were very slow.

Maybe the clocks were wrong in baton rouge la. My 1970 chevelle 350/300hp ran 14.7 many times at state Capitol raceway. How in the hell can a 375hp camaro run the same ? I also drove a ss chevelle 396/325hp at 13.9 I guess no one can explain this to me.

cars back then were underrated for insurance reasons. they actually were faster than the times and hp posted from gm.
a car that had more hp than cubes was pretty much uninsurable.

I always find 1/4 mile times from the 60s to be all over the map.

EDIT: Found what I was looking for, this is the article for one of the times Quick mentioned above.

If you can't read the text from the linked picture, Popular Hot Rodding ran 14.20 @ 101.58 mph with a TH350 automatic Camaro SS396 L-78 on slicks, stock exhaust, no air cleaner. It is important to point out that with the auto transmission, this car was crossing the 1/4 line in 2nd gear! On street tires and with the air cleaner they ran the 14.48 @ 100.55 mph mentioned above.

From the text "Although 396 Camaro had definite 13 second capabilities, poor gearing made good times impossible."

Again that was with the 3-speed auto and not a 4-speed manual. I would hazard to guess a 4-speed would easily put the car in the 13s based on this article.
