Don't think Mustang is Camaros v6 biggest competition

Sorry to say Hyundai Genesis is lighter and 25hp more. Come on Chevy, up the hp and/or drop some weight. Definetly offer optional gearing.

The Genesis actually has 36 more hp, 348 versus 312, respectively.

Those are more on par in pricing with a SS or 5.0 so I think Chevys pricing is okay. If youre someone who actually cares about being faster than you should be modifying no matter which of the 3 you have. In which case its a wash because they all can be made faster than the other.

I would much rather drive a Genesis Coupe than a Mustang.. There's a Genesis in my town that is sponsered and it is SIIIIIIICCKKKK!

I would imagine there is little to no aftermarket for any Hyundai..... With the Genesis, if there is any at all I would think most of it is kiltered towards the 2.0T ?

Its crazy to see v-6's putting out numbers the v-8's use to. Its quite amazing because that means they generally make the v-8s quite a bit faster D.

I definitely am so excited that the muscle car wars came back. I was always a little jealous and wandered what it would of been like to live back in the day when muscle cars first came out... well were re living those days for sure but with alot more hp in my opinion.

Actually there is around a 4k difference between the SS and Genesis R-Spec V6, with the Genesis at $28,750 and the 1SS at $32,635, the 1LT Camaro is $25,760 which is probably the closest V6 to the R-spec, minus the R-Specs brembo brakes and performance suspension. honestly, the 2.0T is as quick or quicker than a V6 Camaro and it starts at $24,250 ($26,500 for the performance tuned R-spec 2.0T)

What kind of times do they run? Anybody know?

I'd wait until they run 12's/low 13's before you determine they are out the Camaro range and the Mustang can't match.

Don't you guys run a best of N/A 13.7? How much faster could the Genesis be?

I have seen consistent 104-105 trap for the new 3.8 Genesis V6, times varying from 13.7-13.9

I don't closely follow the genesis, but I read just yesterday that there is intake, tune, exhaust, and headers available for the V6 version (not sure what else). That alone probably adds an easy 20 - 30 HP to stock.

Man...the Camaro V6 makes good power...its just so heavy. If only it were more in the 3,300 to 3,400 lb range it would be such a great car. I guess thats where the 6th gen is going and i can't wait.

Stock....very low or flat 14 capable with ideal conditions....but rare.

Modded...looking at low-mid to mid 13s possible....but of course without a perfect launch or in warm temps those times go up considerably

You still dont get the torque like a V8 has and you sure cant replicate the sound of a V8. Reminds me of that old saying, 'Horsepower sells cars, but torque wins races'.

Also, I wouldn't drive a Hyundai. I'd take a Mustang or Camaro regardless of if the Hyundai is faster.

I guess it remains to be seen what a FULLY bolt on V6 Camaro can do. It seems as time goes on, you guys have some mods that are slowly trickling out that produce some pretty decent gains. Plenum Spacers and manifold intakes and such right?

I dont think there has been a guy who's been all bolted on and run yet. I can see a 13.4 - 13.5 in there somewhere. Should be enough to hold the Genesis at bay for a while.

Came up with about 15 different responses to this but decided it's best to just leave it alone.

I've got a CAI, ported throttle body, ported intake manifold and intake manifold insulator (black ice) and now that the weather is cooling down I'm excited about seeing what my girl will do

Cooler weather just got one of ours into the 12's.

I'm with you. New mods and cooler weather should make things interesting.

wow...that is cool. V6 mustang with basic bolt ons, 3.73 gears, driveshaft, and tune in the 12s.

Congrats guys. With stock gearing on our cars I don't see why we can't get into the 13.2 - 13.4 range with the right driver on several of the modded V6s here. Gonna take gears/tires and maybe more for us to get into the 12s I believe with our extra weight.

Do you know if that Mustang also ran on DR tires?

I do know actually. He was running slicks to be quite honest. He was running racestar wheels which is the preferred drag wheel for us.

Torque doesn't necessarily win races, I had v6 accord 6-speed with ~200 lb ft of torque that was faster then my friend's 2v Mustang GT 5-speed with ~300 lb ft of torque. Sure he was a little faster off the line, but I would always stop his pull and slowly start reigning him in. The Accord was only making 200 of it's 250 hp starting at 5,000 rpm too. It dynoed 221 whp stock, friend's 2v dynoed 223 stock(honda underrated the J30 and it was fwd manual, lower drivetrain loss then rwd). Look at Civic Si, it run's 14's with 130 lb-ft of torque, same story as RX8. Lexus LFA dynoes 280 lb ft and runs 11's and traps 120+. I beat my friend's Challenger R/T at the track, I run 13.6 to his 13.9-14.0 and he has ~150 more lb-ft then me. A 300 hp high revving v6 will always get a 300 hp V8 from a roll, but from complete stop the v8(stock 3v 4.6 Mustang versus stock vq35hr 350Z or G35 for example) should come out on top, but it spins it's torque away instead.

i was on the genesis forum yesterday and its amazing how fast mods for that car hit the market. from what i read they already have both fi setups out full bolt on's including a stroker kit (from ARK) cams tunes a plenty. maybe we need to hit these import tuners for some new mods.

p.s. all that stuff is for the 2013 models
