If he has a portable tuner like a diablo inTune or a predator, why not use it on your ride?

Because a hand held tuner can only be paired to one car at a time. Since his buddy's car is tuned, the handheld tuner is "locked."

Sounds to me like a drivers race...the cars are similar enough to not really matter much in my opinion. The tuned car may have a very slight advantage, but really whomever gets the better 60 foot will probably be the winner.

An interesting experiment would be to run your car to see what you can do, then have your buddy return his car to stock and use his predator on your car and let you make some runs to see what improvements you make.

His car will likely not run, or run very poorly until he returns the tune to his car, but it could be fun to see if you like the tuner.

He has headers which negates all your mods and then some. He has the edge.

Car for car, his will win if both of you are equal drivers.

If you are a better driver than him then you will win.

Not necessarily. I just ran a L99 at the track with Headers, exhaust, tune, intake, 3k stall, and suspension and he ran a 14.3@104 with a 2.38 60 foot. Driver still makes a big difference.

I would say DA was more the culprit to the bad time then driver in that case. RWD auto is as easy as it gets other then awd. FWD manual is by far the hardest to launch right..... Off the line the weight transfers off of the drive wheels and not only do you have less traction, but you have wheelhop. RWD manual is much easier, off the line the weight transfers to the drive wheels, and from there on it's just shifting. With rwd auto you just stick it in drive and go. Sure manual shifting the auto may be .1 faster but it's very difficult not to get consistent numbers from an auto rwd. It's not like traction should be a huge issue either.... You guys have like what.... 275, 285 width Pirelli summer tires ?

Stock Mustangs have either a 235 all season Pirelli or a 255. I run a 275 Hankook Evo. I ran a 13.1@112 with. 2.0 60". DA was slightly over 2,000 but track prep was terrible. I also kept loosing traction 2nd and 3rd gear, pretty much skating down the track. I ran a 12.52@115 last time I was out there.

Sounds like wheel spin city.
That's a very low 12 @ 112 - 114 mph car (high 11s with real good air). But he'll need some tires that will hook.

I ran 12.16 @ 114.97 mph with bolt ons full weight (before converter or 18" wheels) with a similar setup. Hoping to run 11.9s with the 18" wheels and converter.
