I still want the vents cut out. They were cut out on the concept and looked great. I'm sure they can do it a whistling noise as other car manufacturers have done it before. It won't be a deal breaker for me, but I sure hope they cut them out. I see that the 69 didn't have it cut out, but if the concept was meant to be identical to the 1st gen and retro, GM would have done it differently. Times change which also allow for improvements. I'd be happy to clean them...as I would have to clean the rest of the entire car as well. I seriously doubt it would be hard or anything...just more cleaning. Take a rag w/ soapy water and run it through the vent.

To me it doesn't matter if the vents on the original were cut off or not. I don't care if it is homage to the original. Functional vents are good. Non functional vents just make you look like you value "show" over "go". Vain styling details for the sake of details annoys me.

If not, then why have them? To add more design busyness? Its just like the front fender vents that are now on everything from subcompacts to trucks. Complexity for complexity's sake.

OK then I guess it is a matter of taste. I just prefer that as far as vents go, I want them functional or not there at all.

as far as form vs function goes, I much perfer function. But I look at the car as a whole rather than the individual components. So in my mind, if it has high performance features that can't be seen, then its ok to have some styling that reflects the nature of the car. So long as its not overdone I'm ok.

Don't get me wrong, I'd absolutely love the vents to actually cool the brakes - however, IF they do end up getting cut out, I very much doubt they will. I hope I'm wrong, though.

I want ducts going from the front scoop to a real CAI setup, and I want ducts going from the rear vents to the brakes. If not I'd prefer that both be left off, but it isn't a deal breaker either way.

By that reasoning, why should we have alloy wheels instead of the orange and chrome steel wheels we see here? Why should we have two body-colored side mirrors rather than the 1 chrome side mirror on the '69 model? Why not just clone the '69 model like the Challenger basically cloned its '70 model? Heck lets go all the way and bring back carburation, drum brakes, no power accessories, and steering ratios similar to lottery odds.

While I get your point, I think you were a little over zealous in what you consider as '69 engineering (unless I misunderstood what you were saying). You could get front disks or four wheel disk brakes on '69 Camaros, there were power accessories, power assisted steering in a couple of variations and optional quicker steering ratios. '69 was somewhat advanced from the Model T days! I agree though, there is no need for the 2010 Camaro to go completely retro.

All of those things were optional and not that common. I looked through a number of 1969 and 1970 Camaros and Chevelles and very, very few had power accessories or 4 wheel disks. The point I'm making is that I'd rather not go retro at the expense of progress. Homages are all well and good, but I'd rather this be an improvement over the original.

GM Design makes another production hit out of a concept! I knew from jump they wouldn't let us down. Thank you Scott and everyone at GM for making this happen! I'm ecstatic and looking forward to getting one of my very own.

Heck, I'm only 30 and I can remember when concepts at auto shows were supposed to be depicting a car they will build 10 years into the future. And now we expect them to magically appear overnight at some factory? I think this is the first time in history that the general public has had such access to the step-by-step development of a specific car (authorized or not) to this level. Detailed pictures of incomplete interiors, models, pre-production test cars..... we are seeing the inner workings of what it takes to go from concept to production.

I don't know if it's good or not. I mean, I just love tracking the development of my next car before it's even built, but there are too many people forgetting the car is not complete and forming opinions about it. They see it as it is, forgetting it's not complete and in their mind it is. Heck, it's not even complete in the engineer's minds yet - the final production car is not ready. It's a work in progress. I can see how easy it is to forget, when you see real pictures of a car.

If you just bought a mustang, be sure to read these threads about spark plugs coming loose and shooting out of the engine. There is an endless amount of reports below. Very expensive repair. Not sure if GM motors experience same thing.

theres always the after market!! im sure someone is going to be making a rear brake cooling kit where the vents will be cut out.

Just want to know how many of you will get the back brakes hot enough to require cooling? Your not gonna drive at Bristol in August.

And anything worth having is worth waiting for. If you want a common Mustang just like everyone else then OK. I will prefer something new, different and stunning. I see Mustangs all day long and honestly they bore me. I'll wait and have people asking me is that a new Camaro? Kinda just like Harley Davidson Fat Boys. Hell everyone has one of those. Get something different for a change.

Not only are Mustangs boring, but the GTs just aren't that fast. I work with someone who has an '05 GT stick, and someone else at work has a Saturn Sky Redline. The Sky Redline is a quicker car. And I will bet the Camaro will be faster than the Sky Redline.

Excellent points; all of them (but especially the bold - I'm gonna repeat that later) The fact that we get to see this car as it progresses nearly every step of the way is entirely new to the buying public; to the enthusiast.

But the way I see it, it keeps our interest piqued. How many stories from people have you heard who say that if they hadn't seen the Camaro, they'd have bought a Mustang, or something else. How many of those folks do you think would have forgotten about the '10 Camaro if GM, and spy-photographers hadn't kept releasing little bits of stuff. They may not like it, because their excitement blinds many to the fact that it's not done. But this keeps buyers, and give us enthusiasts time to spread the word. I know I have been.

I see this 24/7/365 attention good for us, but I can't imagine the headaches it has caused Scott, and people on the team. On the other hand, they get a constant influx of opinions, responses, and ideas that may or may not help to shape the car as it progresses.

Bittersweet aspect of the 21st century, I suppose.
